goodbye summer ~ welcome fall

                                                                         It's here!

It is officially fall or autumn.

Summer is gone for 9 months.

It's apple picking time.

Time to get out and enjoy autumn's splendor.

Sometimes autumn brings this a little early.

And, yes, this is fall too.  Mid-December to be exact.  About a week before winter.

Sometimes there is more snow and sometimes none at all.

There is so much beauty in autumn even though it gets very cold and damp.
November can be quite a depressing month with no summer or fall colours.

However, I have learned to look at nature and it's colours, even after the beautiful leaves have fallen,
and appreciate this season even in the dull gray days of November
before winter's snow arrives to cover earth's barrenness.

What is your favorite thing about fall?
I'd love to hear about it.

I wish you fall blessings as we begin this new season.

Have a wonderful day!

Pamela

  1. It is my favorite season...always has been...what do I love about it? The cooler temps after the heat of summer, the riot of colors, that pungent whiff of fallen leaves, the sounds of swishing leaves, the "okay-ness" of being indoors reading a good book or a good blog. Oh and autumn foods are the best, too.

Thanks for getting me totally in the mood with your gorgeous photography!

  2. Oh girl, this is one Ozark Farm Chick who just adores all the brilliant Autumn colors but I'm not a lover of those cold icy winter months. Nope, this gal is no snowbunny!!!

You captured the fall splendor beautifully in your amazin' pictures. We haven't begun to 'turn' yet here in southern Missouri but when we do it's a sight to behold.

I'm so glad I popped over from Sandy's to say Howdy!

From the foggy fall hills and hollers of the Missouri Ponderosa, ya'll have a blessed and beautiful day now...ya hear??? :o)

  3. Beautiful, beautiful - your header and all the photos were like a visit to autumn. We have little change of colour here on the west coast, and I miss the scarlets and golds.
My favorite things about autumn - fires in the stove, crisp mornings and sunny afternoons.

  4. yOur photos are so beautiful. Our trees are changing colours as well. I hope our autumn is a long season. Usually with a very windy day we lose the leaves all at once. I'm glad to see you had such a wonderful visit with your grandson and his parents.

  5. Beautiful photos of fall! (and winter) ... I am looking forward to crunching in the leaves, but not necessarily raking them. I saw my first bit of color today, on a rainy day. Sometimes the color is more striking on a gray day!

  6. Those are beautiful photos! I love just about everything about fall. It really is my very favorite time of year. I love the heartier food, the clothes, the colors of the leaves, the lovely cool breeze...everything really. Fall in Georgia is the best season!

  7. It was the most perfect first day of fall wasn't it? I'm hoping no nasty wind storms come and take the leaves too early. Love the fall colors, but there is something refreshing and new with all the seasons! God is good!

  9. Pamela, you have that much color already?? It is so beautiful! We will start really getting color change in the next couple weeks. I love this season too! I especially love the rainy, chilly days of fall. My husband thinks that is weird, but I really do love those days:-) Thanks for stopping by!! Still no decision on the white doors. I've never had so much trouble figuring something out!

  10. Beautiful pictures and I can almost taste the apples. I like to to take a ride to the mountains to be in the middle of the fall colors and also to pick apples. Leaves haven't started to change here yet, I look forward to it.

  12. Pamela, your photos are captivating. I enjoy seeing beautiful things that I might not see except through your camera lens. Some of my favorite things about fall are: colorful rustling leaves, the smell of smoke from chimneys, hearty food and anticipation of being with family and friends for the holidays. I can't think of anything that I don't like about the fall season. Will be looking for more gorgeous photos from you.
