ticking stripes

I had this piece of vintage ticking material and some muslin so had a cushion made.

I am not a seamstress but I have a friend who is very capable.

This is the reverse muslin side.
The quilt is a vintage baby quilt the size of a throw.
I love the yellow and white pattern.

I removed the wicker plant stand from the deck as the plants were
really getting past their prime.
I moved things around and added some real pumpkins.

Don't you love the punch of colour?

I took this photo yesterday.  The sky was that blue and totally cloudless!
Do you see the colour in the hills?
That tall red leafed tree is like that every fall.
I don't know what kind of tree it is or if it might be a vine.
Some day I'll take a walk down the field to see (when the cows are removed!).

I hope you are enjoying the beauty of autumn where you are.

  1. We don't have as much color here yet. That red tree is so beautiful! I am actually thinking that there was a lot of damage to our trees by that nasty tropical storm Irene because I've raked three times already and the leaves are brown, not the usual brightly colored ones. The punch of color on your deck is fabulous. It must make you grin every time you see it. (I'd sit out on my deck, but there seems to be a new outbreak of mosquitoes all of a sudden. They're miserable.)

  3. Look how your trees are changing color! And the porch looks great! Funny how that quilt is vintage --they don't make them like that anymore. That is a familiar pattern, I have one in pink and white from way back when.

  4. Hello Pamela:
We love ticking as a fabric for soft furnishings. It is so pretty but also very practical and hard wearing.Perfect for your cushion outdoors.

Your porch is looking very autumnal with its shades of russet and burnt orange and what a marvellous view you can enjoy whilst sitting there!

Your muskokan chair looks like the perfect place to sit back with a hot apple cider and enjoy the changing season! I always love ticking on anything-very homey.
We are nearly at our peak here in colors-beautiful! You are getting there. That red vine is smashing, for sure.

  20. Very beautiful, Pamela! I love ticking stripes, they are always in style, aren't they? We don't have any color to speak of yet – our whole year has been a month late so I think it will be some weeks still. Have a wonderful weekend!
