a Sunday walk

On Sunday afternoon hubby and I took the dog for a walk in Mactaquac Provincial Park through the campground.  Although it is closed for the season it was a lovely peaceful place to walk and enjoy the beauty of this sunny fall day.

I was surprised to see many trees with their leaves still on.

A leaf strewn road.

Imagine the busyness of the summer time when this campground is packed with
tents, trailers, kids playing and people biking and hiking.
It's a great spot along the banks of the St. John River just above Fredericton.

And there's an 18 hole championship golf course there too.
(go to www.mactaquacgolf.com/about.html for more info.)

All is quiet now for the winter months.
Everything will be bustling next spring when the
campground opens for the Victoria Day weekend in May.

We had another beautiful and warm day here today.
I enjoyed a nice walk with the dog and I cut some red dogwood
branches to use in my Christmas decorating.
I'll be cutting pine and fir branches soon.

I hope you have a great day!

Blessings,

Pamela

  3. Hello Pamela
Looks like an enjoyable park for a meander with the dog. I see you have your poppy on too and often wonder if the next generation will continue this tradition. I was booking our legion for a horticultural event and the fellow I dealt with must have been in his mid 70's and told me he was the youngest volunteer at the branch.
    Have a great week.

It was definitely a lovely day for a walk!
I, too, am surprised at all the leaves on some
    of your trees there.
Wasn't it nice to have the park all to yourselves? It's always exciting to have tourist, but I'm always glad when they return home!

  7. Great photographs, just the sort of place where Phil and I like to walk. We went along the canal and the ranges on Sunday afternoon when he got back from an Amateur Radio Rally.

We live in a fairly Military area, near Aldershot, the home of the British Army!! There are some lovely big poppies on the gates to some of the barracks. We will be going to Guildford Cathedral on Sunday for the Remembrance Day Service organised by the Surrey Yeomanry Regimental Association, with a lunch afterwards.

  9. A beautiful spot! Isn't this weather glorious - what a treat for Nov! I'll be cutting my pine and fir branches soon too. Along with some red berries and wintergreen.

But when my snapdragons are still blooming, it's a little hard to get in the Christmas mood :) (and I'm not complaining!)
