Don't be shocked!
I am not much of a crafter.
However, when I visited Kathy's blog, Kate's Place, and saw her sweet lacey heart she made, I remembered I had some old lace edging from some vintage pillowslips.
Kathy's heart
putting the lace on the wire
I didn't have proper guage wire so I used a wire coathanger.
My but that wire is stiff!! I had to use pliers, wire cutters and
leather gloves to shape it and in the end only used about 7 inches of the wire. My heart is much smaller than Kathy's!
the finished product
There it is. Pretty shabby. Shabby pretty.
The ribbon rose is from an old baby bonnet.
Definitely vintage. Even wire coat hangers are rare.
Ta Da!
What do you think?
Aren't I crafty?
Valentine's Day is only 4 weeks from tomorrow.
What have you been crafting lately?
It's been so cold here the past few days and nights.
It was -20 Celsius the past 3 nights!
and there was a windchill factor of -35 Celsius.
It warmed up to -9 C. this afternoon so I took the dogs
out for a playtime for about 15 minutes and took some
photos. My fingers were so cold!
I hope your day is blessed and that you are warm and cozy.
I've edited this post so I could join Kathy's new link party
Home and Garden Thursday at A Delightsome Life.
Come on over. The theme this week is thrifting or crafting.
Hugs,
Pamela

It turned out lovely Pamela. I just finished some knitted booties for my grandson. I'm also working on knitted socks, a crochet shawl, and a crochet blanket.
ReplyDeleteYour heart looks so pretty! Yes, we are having that cold spell too and I'm glad to be home from work and settled in for the night. I think I will bake something tasty.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty heart. It will be lovely hanging anywhere in your home. V
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela,
ReplyDeleteI love it...so sweet! Love that you re-purposed some old treasures.
The little pink rose, is too cute!! We are in the big chill here too!
But I am keeping warm...
Have a great week!
All the Best,
Christine
Your lacy wreath looks looks very pretty, Pamela, and I actually prefer its smaller size. It's wonderful to be able to recycle and create something new!
ReplyDeleteYour molasses cookies in the prior post look very good. Vee has everyone baking cookies these days..lol!
Sweet! Yes, you are crafty. Great job!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a "pretty shabby" wreath Pamela!! ;0) Isn't it fun to repurpose things!! Great job. I'd say you are pretty crafty!
ReplyDeleteHi there, Oh what a lovely heart you've created! I love the pink rose too.
ReplyDeleteIt's been cold here today but not nearly like you've had-we are getting snow shortly. Thanks for sharing this new craft.
Hugs, Noreen
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment Noreen! Have a blessed day.
DeleteIt's awesome, you did a wonderful job! I may have to copy your idea. Diane
ReplyDeleteThat's very cute!
ReplyDeleteI made a cross stitch picture that was a giveaway on my blog. It was so much fun that I may do another this week!
It's beautiful! Very nice indeed.
ReplyDeleteWe're getting more nasty weather tomorrow. Sigh. Oh well, then a warm-up of sorts.
Your weather sounds like ours, it's been pretty cold for the past week, except for yesterday, when it was only -1. But it is -12 now.
ReplyDeleteYour shabby heart is adorable! I love it. You have inspired me to make something like that, too. I bought a big bag of lace from VV, so I have lots. I would have to use a coat hanger, too!
I am going to be working on heart crafts tomorrow and Wed., it's time to make a Valentine's craft at my Girls Club.
Hugs, Cindy
I love it Pam.. The finishing touch is the little bonnet rose...
ReplyDeleteIt sure is cold, eh! grin..
God bless...
What a wonderful heart - not only for Valentine's Day decoration but all year round.
ReplyDeleteYour poor fingers must be sore, bending wire, walking and playing with the dogs in such cold weather - time to stay in and snuggle methinks!!!!
Extra blanket tonight - and a hot water bottle for the toes!
Hugs - Mary
Looks pretty darn good Pamela and will be nice hanging in your home. I'm still only making cards these days but love it and how relaxed I feel.

ReplyDeleteYour pink rose really 'made' the heart!
It looks like you used old lace-I like it!
No fun crafts for me yet. I'm going to
organize the pantry, then that's it! I'm
going to work on something fun!
Morning Pamela, your heart looks wonderful and there is so much love in your house and on your blog I am sure you could have it hanging up all year round!!
ReplyDeleteI think it is cold here in the UK with -2c and having the central heating on nearly all the time!! Love Jackie.
The heart is a lovely addition to your home..
ReplyDeleteit will remind you of the things that when
into it and their memories....you have
challenged me to find a craft to do...
Thank You Martha! I'm glad you stopped by. Blessings!
DeleteHi Pamela,
ReplyDeleteI just love your lacy heart and admire you for making it with things you had on hand...love the addition of the ribbon rose from the old baby bonnet. You did a great job! Your winter photos of NB are beautiful...can't wait to get back to NB this summer for more exploring.
Hope all is well with you and yours,
Cheryl
Beautiful pictures and your HEART is FANTASTIC!! The determination alone makes it outstanding!!
ReplyDeleteDuring our winter months, it has been like Spring!! And I was so looking forward to some cool weather.
Beautiful post today!
Have a lovely day,
Brenda
It's -34 this morning and with the wind chill it's meant to reach -40. The school buses are cancelled so all the young parents will be thinking of crafty things to do with their children... perhaps... I'm finishing up a quilt top today. Your heart is lovely Pamela but I don't know if I'd have had the heart to cut the lace off the pillow cases - on the other hand, why not? Keep smiling!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!! I'm not much of a crafter either - but I truly admire those who are. I'm trying my hand at crochet right now. Mostly to keep my from snacking in the evening :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not as cold over here. Just at the freezing mark. Wish we'd get some snow!
Looks good Pamela. I made a similar thing years ago with tiny scraps of fabric I had cut out with pinking shears. I lot of tying of small knots but it came out looking good as has yours. I love the little pink rosebud!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you just took on the title of a Crafter! This is awesome and the pink is the perfect touch. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Wow, I love it. I think I might have to do something just like that. I am not much for over-doing the heart theme at Valentine's Day but this is so pretty and really classic.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! Call yourself a crafter now!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;0
Hello Pamela! This is gorgeous - I just Pinned it! Love the reuse of wire hangers - I know I have some around somewhere! Thank you for sharing with Home and Garden Thursday!
ReplyDeleteI have a project for the weekend!
God Bless,
Kathy
I think it came out just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI may try one myself..
Hugs,
Debbie
