My friend has a whole row of peonies along her driveway.
Last Saturday morning after some heavy rainfall, I went down
to see how the peonies survived.
The white ones were drooping on the ground but the pink ones
were still pretty gorgeous.
I think peonies look like beautiful roses don't you?
some daisies are blooming in with this bush
And here is the proverbial ant crawling on the peony.
I read on another blog that ants are very good for peonies
as they eat the bad bugs that could destroy the blooms.
I remember sitting in church on a hot Sunday morning and
watching the ants crawling all over the peony blossoms
in the vases at the front of the platform.
I was always afraid they might crawl down and across
the floor and up my legs! Silly me. Little
did I know that they prefer the peony.
Come and sit a spell at Billy's Butternut Country Market.
Have a coffee and donut or muffin.
Visit with your friends and neighbours.
I love Saturday mornings in the country.
Well, actually I love every day in the country!
And,
I love pretty pink peonies too!

I love peonies! They are long since past in my garden so I may just have to swing by your friend's home. :)
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful; I can almost catch the scent, Pamela.
I meant to add that I really like your new header.
DeleteSo pretty! My peonies are all done for this year.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers! Your photos are wonderful, Pamela!
ReplyDeleteThey do look like roses! Love that ant! I like catching water drops on the plants, too. Keep clicking that camera!

Peonies are beautiful, just wish they lasted longer and didn't get so floppy.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to see your pretty peonies! Mine are long gone and they are my very favorite! Such a gorgeous pink!
ReplyDeleteAn ants job on a peoney is to open it! Peonies will not open without the help of an ant.
Those are just beautiful. Thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteWow they are gorgeous. What a beautiful shade of deep pink or violet. It all looks so green and cool where you live! But maybe it's hot like it is here. A heat wave of sorts. Our peonies are long gone, but we certainly enjoyed them and it's nice to see yours again. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteThose are pink perfection!
ReplyDeleteDonuts! I wish I wasn't so suggestible! haha! You know, I have had a very large flower painting for a long time that until recently I always thought was roses. I only recently realized it's actually peonies! I thought the roses just looked "different". Now I see the leaves are different too. Now I'm twice as pleased with that painting! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThose peonies - they are beautiful - in some ways, more beautiful than roses.
ReplyDeleteI love this kind of mass planting it really does feel quite luxurious.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you popped in to join our giveaway.
Have a glorious weekend.

I've suggested in articles that peonies can make a remarkable hedge but have never actually seen one until now. Too bad peonies don't rebloom all summer.

I have never grown peonies, but after seeing so many beautiful examples on blogs I have them on my list of 'must haves' for next year. I'm glad you told me about the ants, because now I won't worry if I see any on them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. How I wish I could call in at Billy's Butternut Country Market.
I love every day in the country too! Those peonies are just stunning. I've never grown them, and I've always wanted to. I'm not sure how they would like our climate where it's quite warm and dry. But they are such a cheery, elegant flower. Love those pictures!
ReplyDeleteI love peonies too. I planted 3 new ones this year that I hope will survive this heat wave. I've been watering them every day. Hope you are well and enjoying the weekend!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I have 2 bushes but they are almost done blooming now. It's funny - I'm the opposite of your friend - my deep pink ones fell off first!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Pamela. I love Peonies also. I love the close up pic that you took. Life in the country is the best!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
Very nice, My peonies have been gone for a long while as it has been so HOT here. I love the sweet aroma of peonies.
ReplyDeleteThose peonies are gorgeous! Ours are long gone so it's nice to get to visit your friend's.
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela! Oh, what pretty peonies! I just love that flower but I think it's too hot here. Hope you're having a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

ReplyDeleteWow! I am in awe and completely delighted! Peonies in July! What a gorgeous hedge! When we lived in Ohio I passed a home with a Peony hedge all in white - I fell in love with them then! Yep, ants do prefer the Peonies ;)
ReplyDeleteThey always cause us to pause though! I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
Kathy
