a woodland walk

Warning:  Photo heavy post!  :)

On Sunday afternoon we all went for a beautiful walk on some woodland trails.  It had been a gorgeous sunny and mild day, perfect for a walk in the woods.

We loaded the kids on a dog sled that our friend uses for cross country ski training.

There they go!

Matthew tried cross country skiing for the first time.

It was so pretty in the woods with all the snow on the ground and on the trees.  I took lots of photos so just enjoy....

It was around 4:00 in the afternoon and the sun was lowering in the sky.  I loved the way it shone on the trail and the trees.

Jennifer and I even got to ride on the back of the dog sled!
Our 'driver' is very strong!!!

Back out on the main trail there are these Outdoor Fitness Park stations along the path.  How cool is that!!

Did you stay to the end?  Thanks!!

It was a wonderful time.  We went back to our friend's house for a fantastic meal of Chinese food.  Needless to say, we all slept really well that night from the fresh air, exercise and huge meal.

Today was another beautiful sunny day and the temperature was up to + 5 Celsius!  I think I'll try to get out for a walk tomorrow.

Thanks for visiting and all your comments.  I appreciate each one.

Blessings,

Pamela

  1. How fun! I used to cross country ski in Michigan! The drifts would get high enough to cover barb wire fences. These are beautiful photos! Love the trees!

  3. Such evocative photos! That's a wonderful woodsy trail. I admire how you get out in the cold. I think i would sit in a rocker all winter under a shawl! haha! On the other hand, I think i would enjoy some cross-country skiing.

  12. It looks like you have been having a wonderful time visiting your dear grandsons and their parents. I read a few previous posts and enjoyed seeing your treasured sewing notions and the way you have them displayed. I have a few things that were my mother's, my grandmothers and my great grandmother's so i appreciated seeing the way you used the mason jars. Such a great idea!

  13. I DID stay to the end – and enjoyed it all, Pamela. Lovely photos and what a perfect way to spend a beautiful winter's day. We haven't had any snow here and likely won't at this point. So your photos were a treat!

    Wishing you a great week.

  15. What great fun you obviously had Pamela - I love that smil on your face!
Nothing as bracing as fresh air and snow - your pics are fabulous as usual.

Thanks for sharing the Canadian Winterland, I only see it in the warmth of Summertime when we travel there, although come to think of it, I do recall many, many years ago we spent some days in Quebec City (stayed at Chateau Frontenac) in winter - it was beautiful!

Continue to have fun dear, the exercise must feel good........

    Hugs - Mary
