playingwithmygrandkids

the backyard filled with snow

Here we are in northern Alberta enjoying our sweet family which includes our precious grandsons Ewan and Eli.

Ewan waiting to open gifts.

The day we arrived we had a wonderful Christmas celebration which included gifts galore and a very yummy turkey dinner.

Eli with the red hair and blue pools for eyes.

These two precious boys are keeping these grandparents on their toes.  They quickly warmed up to us considering they haven't seen me since last August or Grampie since January 2012.  Visits on Skype have certainly kept the bond going this past year.

Ewan got his very first drum set for Christmas.
He loves drums and wants to play them in church.
He also loves guitar and singing just like his daddy.

Doesn't he look like he's enjoying himself?

Murray snowblowing the driveway.  Actually, there was about 8 inches of compacted snow on the driveway that they've been chopping away at and piling along the side.  The snowbank on the right is really a raised sloped lawn with a retaining wall piled with the snow from the roof.  It's mandatory to clear your own sidewalk in front of your house but the streets only get cleared once every few weeks!  Yes, that's right.  The city puts signs up 2 days before saying they will be clearing snow and you have to get your vehicles moved off the street so they can do it.  It's an interesting process to see. (I watched on Skype one day)

There is so much snow here!  It's been snowing since late October and there haven't been many days without some falling.  It's also very cold here but much warmer than it was even a week ago.  It was -45 Celsius for a few days then.  Having -12 C is rather like a heatwave.  :)  I didn't know it could snow at -18C but it does.

Happy Eli

Relaxing with the grandsons on Sunday afternoon.

Thanks for visiting and leaving your comments on my last post.
I have been trying to read your blogs but I just don't have time to comment on them all.

We are busy with the little guys and having FUN!!
I'll be back soon.

Blessings to you all,

Pamela

  4. Love, love, love seeing the grands! Eli has such beautiful auburn hair and blue eyes and Ewan is growing so tall not to mention handsome. Who got that child a drum set? It better not have been you and your hubby! Your daughter and her hubby won't stop talking about it. I once made the mistake of giving a toy with whistles and bells...oh my. I have yet to live it down. =D

They don't plow the streets for two weeks? Good heavens! Does everyone have chains on their tires?

  5. Oh, a couple of cutie pies Pamela! Did it confuse Ewan having Christmas with presents again? And, turkey dinner...you did have the celebration all over again.
I hope our street ploughing doesn't go to every couple of weeks during winter, we'd never get out of the driveway. We're spoiled with having the sidewalks cleared by the town too.
Think snow angles - show the grands how to do it grandma!
    Hugs,

  21. Hi Pamela - no reply necessary. I can see that you are having the very best time with those two little cuties. I'm a pushover for red hair - one of our grands is a red head too. Enjoy every moment! We're skyping with our little fellows too so that when we see them in Edmonton in April they'll remember us.

  22. Such precious boys! So, so cute! And, that snow! We wouldn't know what to do with it here! If we got snow like that, it would stop everything. Yet, it is beautiful!
Stay warm and hug those grandkids a lot!

My how the boys have grown!
Eli reminds me of an Irish lad with his red hair and blue eyes and Ewan reminds me of my older boys when they were young, so blond and cute.
Northern weather can get mighty cold, but isn't fun to experience it first hand?
