a pretty spring promise

Yesterday, after 2 days of rain, the clouds broke for a few hours and I went for a walk.

I found lots of wild apple trees in bloom in the ditch along the road although the apple orchard hasn't started to bloom yet.

I went home to get my cutters to clip a few small branches for a bouquet.  I put them in a small canning jar and tied a strip of lace around it.

Voila!

The promise of spring ~~~ and fall's harvest.
Apples will form through the summer although these wild ones will no doubt be inedible.

There is more rain coming right on through the weekend.
I hope if you're experiencing this dreary weather that you will find something beautiful to cheer you up too.

Blessings,

Pamela

  2. What a beautiful sprig of apple blossoms in the canning jar. Is that a piece of lace ribbon or what have you used to give it such charm? Lovely! Yes, we must look for beauty where we can find it and fun, too.

  7. So beautiful Pamela....the trees are so lush and colorful. We have had rain, rain, and more rain and it's looking like the weekend is going to be more of the same. We are planning to go to Boothbay Botanical Gardens on Monday...the holiday so I'm hoping the sun will be out for our day away because I want to take lots of photos. Have a lovely weekend...hugs.

  8. Hello Pamela, how I loved this post. The apple blossoms are so elegant wrapped in lace. Our weather here was wet and gloomy today, too and more rain tonight, but thankfully, nothing severe. I also enjoyed your post of your trip, the scenery was wonderful. I love roads that beckon you to explore them, and the wooded canopy was exquisite.

The weather is really terrible over here. We have rain and cold, so cold. Never happened before at the end of may. Tonight there will be frost.

  19. Our apple tree was loaded with blossoms this year and I did take quite a few photos of them because now all the petals have dropped to the ground. The air has become nippy this afternoon. Valerie

  20. We are lauding the rain, it's the first time the ground has been thoroughly soaked since last June...bring it on, at least here.

The blossoms are so pretty...nothing like a jar of happiness to bring in spring.

  21. Our apple blossoms were in their prime about a week ago - last night's wind storm blew the leftovers into Quebec ! These are lovely, Pamela. [I did manage to get a number of shots of ours - just haven't posted any yet]

    Have a great weekend.
