I "heart" clouds

I love watching the sky and clouds.  Always have.
The beautiful blue skies on Wednesday afternoon had a few cotton boll clouds floating around.  They were so fluffy!

I discovered this heart shaped cloud while on the back deck enjoying the sunshine and warm temperatures.

I don't sit in the sun without sunscreen on.  In fact, that day, I sat under the umbrella with a sweatshirt and jeans on as it was nice and not hot.  I may have even nodded off too.  :)

Do you see those trees?  They are being cut down today along with 7 others that have grown too tall for our small property and are giving too much shade.  We will still have lots of trees left.  I will have a nice view of the back hill and more sunshine, especially in the winter when the sun is so low in the sky.  I'll share more about the tree cutting before and after photos soon.

There wasn't a cloud in the sky all day today (Friday) and the trees are cut down.  Here is a picture of the view from our deck this morning after they cut down 3, 30 foot trees.

Picture a wall of fir trees there blocking this gorgeous view.
{And, no, that is not our land.  Our property ends at the tree stumps.}
And look at that perfect blue sky too!

Now I'll be able to see lots of pretty skies and clouds from my windows and deck.  Plus, it's so much brighter in the house too!

I hope you enjoy sunny skies this weekend.  We are celebrating our son's birthday this weekend and will be doing more yard work and maybe putting out some garden and deck things.
We won't be planting anything as there is a risk of frost tonight and perhaps many more nights yet for 3 more weeks.

What will you be doing this weekend?

I hope it's fun!

Blessings,

Pamela

  1. Hi Pamela, I've posted before how I love the sky and clouds, but I have never seen a heart shaped cloud. I will be on the lookout. How wonderful that you now have such a pretty view. I know there are one's out there who do not want to cut even one tree and it would be a shame if there were no trees, but there can also be too much of a good thing. We are having problems with our car because of a huge Sequoia redwood dropping it's long stickery things into the vents and then just laying inside and molding. What a horrible smell and how much money it has cost us. But if you make noise about a 500 foot old tree, you can get yourself into trouble. It takes all kinds..Happy Friday..Judy

  3. What a lovely open view! It is supposed to go up to 30 degrees C here on Sunday. I'm not sure if I am ready for such a warm day. Pamela, I am not very good at remembering plant names, : ) especially the more unusual ones. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  4. Oh,Pam! What a view you have!
Have a wonderful time with your son. As for my weekend, I went the local camera club's Spring Salon tonight (a friend and her sweetheart are members) and then invited them over for a glass of wine. It was a lovely evening. Tomorrow I weed!

  5. Hello Pamela, You sure did the right thing by cuting down just three trees! Do you know what people would pay to have that beautiful country, hilly view and all that sunshine. I like it. I think it is fabulous. How have you been? Keeping busy?

  7. I'll be weeding and planting this weekend, as we're promised sun and warmth.
I think it was a great idea to take down the trees. The view and the light must be welcome!
The heart is my favourite shape, so I'd have been pretty thrilled to see that cloud.

  13. It's so bittersweet to cut down trees, but like you said, it's much brighter...

We have large fir trees here, and while they can be a nuisance, needles, pollen, blocking the sun more in winter...we do appreciate them in the summer.

And they are just far enough away from the house to be beautiful.

  15. Hi Pamela
I"m glad you were outside to see the heart cloud and could grab your camera before it moved away. How neat is that, a love note from above.
The opened up view is spectacular, no wonder you decided to cut down some of the trees. Enjoy the light.

  17. Good to see that spring is happening in your part of the world. A huge spruce fell last weekend and the top just touched our local library. It is good to take a look at the trees that surround us on a regular basis and sometimes they need to be cut down. I'm just raking up what's left in the flower beds and i'm going to plant pansies in my pots. They sill usually come back if touched by frost. Have a great Sunday!
