over the mountains

We recently flew to British Columbia to visit my sister and her husband for their son's wedding.

It's a long flight across this country of Canada, starting out in New Brunswick on the east coast and ending in Vancouver, BC. on the west coast.
We flew into Montreal first and got on a much bigger plane for the second leg of our journey.

I managed to watch 2 movies, mostly with my eyes shut.
I was so tired!

{I hope that's not duct tape holding the plane together!!}

But, once we got close to the Rocky Mountains in Alberta and BC, I was awake to take pictures.

Some of the snowcapped mountain peaks.

Just look at those ice fields.  So beautiful!

These pictures were taken through a dirty window so they aren't clear but just look at all those little pointy peaks and the valleys.
There are lakes and rivers down there too.

I think it's just majestic!

When we landed in Vancouver we had to drive to Chilliwack and we could see Mount Baker in Washington State from the highway.
It is miles away!!

Isn't it a beauty?

The farmland and the mountains along the Fraser River Valley are beautiful, green and lush.

One thing about travelling west is that we gain 4 hours in the day.

I have lots more photos to share with you in the days ahead.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit and leaving a comment.

Blessings,

Pamela

They are great shots. I have never been very good at Geography and didn't realise how big Canada was. We are going to Scotland soon by coach and leave about 7am and hope to reach there by late afternoon and I thought that was a long way!! Looking forward to see more photographs of the wedding and your trip. Love Jackie in Surrey, UK.

  13. God's country I always say! My aunt went to nursing school in Vancouver. She was also an amateur painter so I remember her paintings of the area gracing my grandparents' home. Perhaps that is why I am so fond of the scenery there.

  14. Ohhh I'm so glad you got to see our mountain. It always amazes me how far away people are, and they can still see the mountain. We've viewed it from several angles and it is always stunning. As you can tell from my blog - I can't seem to stop taking photos of Mt. Baker. We've driven to the top - well, the to farthest point to which you can drive - there is still quite a hike to get to the very top. It is one of the most beautiful mountains I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them.

We've vacationed in Chilliwack - great area! The landscape where you were is very almost exactly like the landscape down here in NW Washington.

Fabulous photos. One time we were coming back from West Virginia and our plane circled clear around Mt. Baker - I got some amazing photos.

  15. Oh, God created so much beauty for us!
And I didn't realize that Chilliwack was a farming area.
Flying from one coast to the other! No wonder you could
    sleep on the plane.
Have a good time with all of your family.

It just doesn't seem possible to see so much snow at this time of year....living here in Florida! This is one of the reasons I love blogging...seeing things I would never see myself! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week of travels! (get some sleep!) Sweet hugs!
