a red and white Christmas and winter's arrival

vintage silver tray, Santa boot and ornament; newer pitcher

This year I did my coffee table a bit differently.  I've chosen red as a theme colour through the living/dining rooms and kitchen, along with white, silver and some burlap.

Some vintage and some new items decorate the coffee table.
Can you tell which is which?

A friend gave me the bird one Christmas.  He's so cute in his warm hat and scarf.

vintage milk glass bowl and ornaments

the kitchen windowsill.

A black lantern on the bookshelf gets a pretty ribbon and berries for the holidays.

Red berries, white candles and a bowl of potpourri with lighted white snowflakes decorate the bookshelf.

That is just a peek at some of my Christmas decorations.

And here's a peek at what's happening here today.
Yes, we're getting our first major snowfall of the season.
Below is our drive home from church.

The view from our back deck this afternoon.

It's been snowing since 4:00 am.  Fine, pretty, white snow.
Murray is going out to scoop the driveway at 9:10 pm.
Winter has arrived!  I wonder how long the snow will last.

Did you have snow this weekend?
I hope you have a great week.  Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

Blessings,

Pamela

  2. No snow here this weekend, Pam. You sure are getting your share. I spent the weekend with my daughter near Minneapolis and visited the Bachman Idea House which is all decorated for Christmas. The theme there was mostly red and white too. I love all your red and white decorations. I haven't started decorating other than I have the tree up and lights on it. No decorations though.
    Have a great week!

  3. Your decorations are all so pretty. I love that sweet little bird and that black lantern. I was just thinking of writing a post about decorating. I sure love your style! And LOOK at that snow! It was in the 70s here today. My new profile pic was taken this afternoon when we went hiking. Enjoy your evening my friend...stay warm and cozy. Warm hugs, Diane

  4. Red is one of my favourite colours to wear and to decorate with, besides orange. So interesting visiting you today and looking onto your coffee table and through your kitchen window, never noticed but we have the same windows, yup a huh. Snow, gosh we just got home from Matthews he cooked supper, lemon chicken on skewers, and he made my favourite Lebanese rice. Then we piled wood for two hours, lol a beautiful day all around, hope your week is fantastic

  6. Your choice of decorations is very nice. I especially like the last picture of pine cones in the glass bowl. I have been thinking of a few new ideas but I'm waiting until the storm which hasn't reached us yet. We've had winter storm warnings since Thursday and snow for most of November…it's time to decorate!

  7. Your Christmas decorating is very pretty,I love seeing the red with silver and white. You are getting quite the snowfall, aren't you! We had a skiff of snow overnight, but last week it snowed almost every day and the forecast is for next week to be like that with COLD temps!!! I hope to start walking outside again, I'm not sure about those -30 days though!

  9. I like your red and white Christmas theme very much, Pamela. It looks so bright and fresh. I love the color red so I usually have to have that all around at Christmas time. We have been having very mild weather the past week, but I heard that will will have an arctic blast by Wednesday and it will get very cold and we will have snow.

  15. Beautiful snowy scenes. The wind is howling outside our house, and we might get a little snow this week, but it's hit or miss. I'm hoping.

  18. Love seeing your beautiful house! You should have 'viewing days'! We haven't any snow yet - in fact yesterday was wall to wall sunshine, almost like a summer's day!

  19. Doesn't red sparkle just as bright as gold and silver?! Little pops of this versatile colour make the difference, always, and here, they mark the beginning of Christmas with such charm! Red also complements grey perfectly, refreshing it, and your sofa is in fine company this season!

    Lovely!

    Have a great week!

PS: Your drive home from church is absolutely dreamy...

  27. Your Christmas decorating looks lovely, Pamela. The little bird is rather comical and the touches of red add a nice traditional feel to your home. The warm feeling certainly contrasts with all of the white you have outdoors!
