winter white

On December 1st we, quite appropriately, had a beautiful snowfall.

The flakes came down gently and covered the earth with it's ermine mantle.

Guess who's been visiting our yard.  Lots of deer tracks.

our neighbour's house

My favourite tree that I was always taking pictures of is now our tree.
{we bought the piece of land it's on which expanded our property to just about 3 feet beyond the tree  and we got a garden plot too}

My old skates got covered in snow.

So did my arrangement on the front porch.
It all looked so beautiful.

Of course, since that snowfall we had 2 mild days, a rainy day, the snow melted and it snowed again on Monday.
The next few days are going to be very cold with temperatures down to almost -18 C (zero F) at night.
The weather people are calling for a lot of snow on Saturday night into Sunday - upwards of 20 or 30 cm.
Our church's Christmas Music Night is on Sunday so I hope the storm isn't too bad!  A lot of people put a lot of work and practice into it and it would be disappointing if people couldn't get out. {Murray and I included as we are taking part!}

Thank you so much for visiting.  I hope you are having a great week and enjoying your Christmas preparations.
Have you finished your shopping?
No?
Me neither.
But, I'm almost done.
Two weeks from today….

Blessings,

Pamela

  1. Hi Pamela. Looks like you had a very pretty snowfall, too. I love it when the snow settles on the outside decorations. Looks so pretty with a little bit of red ribbon or berries showing through. My computer is in trouble? we have someone coming today, if he can get down his steep, snowy driveway!. We haven''t had any more snow and sunny days but it is so cold that none of it has melted, just icy to walk on. Thank you for your kind comments. I'm answering you this way because I can't get into my gmail..Happy Wednesday..Judy

Your snow photos are so pretty! Are those Murray's old skatesI see peeking out of the snow?
And so neat that you now own your favorite tree. Now you're really going to have a huge garden.
I'll pray for safe roads for this weekend-it would be ashamed to have to cancel your church program.

  4. A fresh snow makes everything beautiful and I like its effect on your skates and planter, Pam. I always enjoy the photos of your favourite tree, which is now truly yours.

  7. Beautiful scenery of your recent snowfall Pam. Kind of neat that you can call the tree your own now, and an extra garden plot is always useful.
We're supposed to get more snow over the weekend too, I hope it is safe driving for your church event.

  9. The snow gives us the opportunity for lovely photos. It is really cold and windy here today. Snow is moving in for Friday onwards ... and it looks like lots of it :)

  12. You will be looking forward to gardening in the spring and watching your tree change through the seasons, but first of all hope the weather is good and that you are able to make it to the concert safely. Christmas music is so wonderful and I'm sure your audience will love the concert!

  14. I love your snowy shots - we get so little of it here. I always long for snow over Christmas, but that happens rarely. I'm almost done the shopping, still have a few more stitched gifts to finish up and a good chunk of the baking is done. We're going to Chilliwack for a couple of days next week, so I want to be done my preparations before then.

How fun to plan a garden for spring. Stay cozy.

  15. The snow looks so beautiful, but I hope that it stays away so that your concert can go ahead without any troubles. Hope that you have an amazing time. Your tree looks beautiful, and I am sure is all the more beautiful to you now that you own it! Good luck on Sunday, I hope you enjoy the concert. xx

  17. The snow is so beautiful and always welcomed at Christmas. If only our winters though could be a tad shorter!

  18. Your snowy landscape looks so pretty, Pamela. I feel like we are one of the few areas without snow right now, but I sure am enjoying the chance to see how it looks everywhere else :D.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that it won't hamper your concert at church. That would be such a shame.

  21. The snow scenes are always so beautiful. I hope you don't get too much snow and everyone will be able to attend the concert. Stay safe and warm. Oh, and congrats on gaining the special tree!

  24. I love your wintry photos, Pamela. Congratulations on buying more property. I loved seeing the neighbor's tree that is now yours. I had to have a beautiful cherry laurel tree cut down on Monday. The heavy ice that we had here split the tree. So sad!

  25. I love white winter landscapes! Ours is much like your's only it has been a lot colder. We have barely been above zero even in the daytime for the last week. It's supposed to warm up a little tomorrow. Like maybe 12 above zero. That hasn't been keeping me home though. I've been going to bake sales, Christmas luncheons, and dinners, Christmas tea, Christmas programs, etc. Well I better get off here as the lights are flickering. Night before last we had the electricity going on and off for hours. At least it kept coming back on.

  26. Hah! I just finished saying Christmas was two weeks from today, I haven't baked a thing or wrapped any of our gifts here yet! Tomorrow I am going to wrap until I can't wrap anymore.

  28. Lovely snow pictures - just as I like them - in someone else's yard. Beautiful!!! Only have two more things to get and then my shopping is done. Hurray.

  30. You do have a ton of snow. We have been having snow and wind but the last few days have been freezing. It is 9 degrees here right now. It is suppose to be freezing cold here all the rest of the week and into next week. Just a couple more gifts to buy but then comes all the wrapping. I wait until I am pretty much done buying and lay everything out . I want to make sure everything is fair. Your music concert at church sounds divine. I wish I could be there. Let's hope the weather is good and you have no problems getting there. It sounds wonderful.

  31. Dear Pamela,
thank you so much for the sweet comment on my blogpost and the hint to the childrens book. I found it via Internet. Look here: http://www.ont.com/atg/star/starstartover.html. Its not exactly the same but may be it was the template for the German book. Also a very sweet story. I see, you are blessed with snow. We don't have it yet. I wish you a wonderful Christmas time. Best greetings, Johanna

  32. So very beautiful - everything looks better with snow! That shot of your favorite tree is very lovely - the light is quite dramatic. So glad that it is now all yours, too. Hope the storm holds off until after your church concert and everyone gets there safe and sound. Keep cozy. xo Karen

  34. Beautiful photos! I love the lone tree! That's fantastic! Congratulations on the new land!

  35. It's so nice to see your snow. While you have snow, we are to have more rain this weekend. I hope the snow allows your concert to continue as planned -- but then where you live you are used to snow and working around it! That is such a pretty tree--what a nice focal point for you!

  37. It all looks glorious! How wonderful that you purchased the additional land and got a special tree in the deal. With a landscape like that, it would be perfect to set up a seasonal or monthly shot (from the same location, same focal length) for "your" tree! Hope you stay warm and safe when the next snowfall comes through. Yes, we are done with our shopping. Not much for us to get except for ourselves and each other. And I just send money to my mom and got a nice gift for dear girlfriend. Oh, and I am giving out some of our photo calendars and candles that a friend made.

  38. Oh, Pam, you take the prettiest photos.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you to safely have a good music program Sunday!

You are so right- there is SO much that goes into a program.

  39. Winter white suits you. And congrats on the addition to your property, that's one lovely tree. Have a good time at the concert.

The "cookies" are actually chocolates from the Dutch store.
