Sunlit Sunday ~ longer days already

We're barely into January and you can notice that the days are already getting longer, only by a minute on either end, but it's noticeable when the sun is shining.  I took this photo at 4:06 pm on the 8th as the sun was setting.  That's a good thing ~ later sunsets.

I always anticipate this shot, below, of the morning sunrise shining in the living room window.  There is a period of about a month when it doesn't make an appearance into the room.  The sun is slowly making it's way east where it will shine in the living room window again until mid-December.
On Jan. 10 at 8:27 am I noticed that it shone in.
Another good thing!

I'm linking with Sunlit Sunday over at "My Little Home and Garden".   This is week 2 for this winter meme and I hope you might join us or stop by and visit the other participants.  Thank you, Karen, for hosting.

Blessings,

Pamela

  1. Beautiful---I love it when the sun comes in the house---it gives me energy and puts a smile on my face! I could have written this one too.

  2. Does this window face east? I get so many early morning shots from my living room as well, and at this time of year, there are so many shadows (although I do love the dappled sunlight coming through in the summer!). Beautiful pictures. I, too, have noticed the longer days. Yes!

  5. There is a cozy feeling about a room with the sun shining into it. I think I would like you house very much, with the winter berries in the white jug, the lovely textured pine cones and the soft green candles. You've caught the light and the mood beautifully, Pam.

  6. The longer days are nice! It's been raining here this evening. Crazy weather for early January.

  7. Nice play of light and shadows! It dawned on me the other day that it was staying light a bit longer. Rather than being pitch dark at 5:30 in the evening, it's closer to 6 before it's dark.

  15. I am noticing the days getting a tiny bit longer too. Not sure if I have ever appreciated it as much as I have this year. A bit of sun, early or late is a real treat, isn't it. Happy sunny day today . . .

  16. We have been noticing the evenings staying a bit lighter. How lovely to see the sun shining into your home. It's a dull and dreary weekend here with rain and fog, but the temperatures are above 0 Celsius so lots of ice is melting.

  20. I have noticed it too...it's lovely.

We are kind of ringed in by mountains, in a very wide valley so our sun takes it's sweet time in the winter...and it's low in the west still...so I think you get a bit longer then us. But it will come.

  23. Very pretty pictures, Pamela! The pine cones encompassed in white, perfectly complement the furnishings and linens in the room, and the red berries brush the scene with colour! Have a lovely week!

  24. It is so nice to see the length of the days increasing isn't it, even if it is just a little bit by bit and then you look back after a couple of weeks and it seems to have changed dramatically! Lovely to see the sunshine coming into your life. xx

  25. Beautiful light! I really notice the time shift - it makes quite a difference when it comes to taking pictures. I'm always trying to get out in that late afternoon light for photo-taking and now it's getting later every day. I love it!

  27. We are watching the sun's movement across the sky when we pick the boys up at the bus stop. At first, it eas right in our eyes. Now it is behind the barn, but oh-oh, now it's a little higher again and back in our eyes. It is interesting to note.

Your picture is so smart looking with the sun coming in the window on the chair, great shot. Also like the tiny amount on the picture frame just a hit to make you stop and take notice
