Easter weekend

the snow on Good Friday ~ going so fast

Easter dinner on Saturday with our son and his fiancé

So many deer.  We counted 34 on Saturday evening.

Thursday evening.  The river had risen on Tuesday and covered the road Wednesday night.

Do you see the bit of ice in the bush on the left?  That's how high the water was.  It has gone down a lot since then.

Another Easter has come and gone.  We had a busy but, a very good weekend.  The weather was pretty good with some sun and cloud and temperatures around 10-12C.   We had our Good Friday service on Friday morning.   Murray and I did a bit of yard clean up that afternoon.  We picked up fallen branches from around the yard and had our first fire in the fire pit to burn them.  We had to wade through a foot of snow to get to the fire pit but there is also a lot of bare ground now.   Saturday I cleaned the house and cooked for our Easter dinner.  Mark and Jenn came over for dinner.  Sunday morning was busy with our two church services.  We left the house at 7:30 and got home at about 1:00.  In the evening we sat down to watch The Mentalist and I was getting a bit sleepy.  We decided to watch the DVD "Saving Mr. Banks" and I fell asleep within 5 minutes.  After an hour of fighting sleep and not really seeing the movie, I went to bed.  lol  Murray enjoyed it and I will watch it soon....in it's entirety!

Today it's cloudy and cold.  Only +8C.  With a wind blowing it's not pleasant to even go out and do yard work.  The sun is supposed to come out this afternoon and warm it up.  I kind of hope it does as I could use some yard exercise.  :-}   We only have a few patches of snow left and a couple of snowbanks.  It's amazing how fast the snow melts when we think it might never do so.  It's been 21 days since we got the huge blizzard on April 1st and the snow is about gone.

I hope you had a lovely Easter weekend.

Blessings.

Pamela

  12. So glad you had a nice weekend. That is a huge herd of deer you spotted. It was lovely today, so nice days heading your way. The last of our snow at the very back of the garden melted today. We had a busy day in the garden.

  15. Yes I cannot believe how fast our snow has gone down, although we still have lots, but at least we can now see part of our lawn. Yippeee! I'm sure we are not yet past the danger of flooding. I know the water has gone down in some areas, but we've got lots of rain in the forecast this week, I'm sure the worst is not behind us yet. I really wanted to see Saving Mr. Banks but missed it at the theatre so will have to rent it. Let me know how you like it....

  16. It was a busy weekend here too Pam, with cooking, baking and cleaning. Today I was out cleaning up the gardens and so happy to be outside again. Now I'm so tired I think I better take a day off and relax. Gosh, I can't believe how high the river was but I've seen flooded out roads on your FB.
    The Easter cupcakes look yummy.

  18. Such a busy Easter weekend. I'd have fallen asleep on front of the TV too! I hope you haven't been affected by the flooding we've heard about.

  19. I'm too late to wish you a blessed Easter...but it looks like you had a good one! I'm feeling a little tired over here as well...after all the festivities. Sleeping in front of the TV sounds like a good thing to me!

  20. You sure set a lovely Easter dinner table, Pamela!
It's good to see the snow leaving, but it does look like
the river is pretty high, Will it flood or continue going down?
That is a whole lot of deer. That field will be well fertilized!

  24. Yay for melting snow. We have just one pile of ice left between the deck and the garage and it dwindles more by the hour. Looks as if your Easter was lovely and enjoyable in every way. Compelling movie, say what?! =D You must have been so tired with all the hustle and bustle of church activities and the long wearying winter.

  25. Your Easter weekend was busy. It's so great to celebrate special times like this. I'm feeling a little worn out after our weekend, too.
So glad the snow is disappearing quickly and the waters are receding. Perhaps the cooler temperatures and wind will help that situation.
Hope your energy returns and you have a wonderful week.

  26. Sounds like you had a super weekend. That's great! There is still some snow in the nooks and crannies around here but it is going. Won't be long til we're completely clear and I'm sure the same is true for you all. Happy Spring!

  27. It's been such fun to hop around blogland to read about and see how Easter shaped up for everybody. Your table looks so pretty and the day sounded lovely too. You must be thrilled to see the snow disappearing.

  28. With as much snow as you had, little wonder that there was so much flooding. Here, we are facing the same concerns, but the spring run-off from the mountains has not yet started. The park is beautiful, and just imagine how wonderful it will be once it really warms up.

  29. Hello Pam,
I'm coming over through Diane's blog. I see you love Photography too. You have many wonderful pictures on here. The deer caught my eye, as I think that deer are magical animals, so special. I noticed your hutch above, it's gorgeous. I have another blog friend that has a hutch very similar to yours. Me and my daughters also have a blog, and we would love it if you could visit us and follow. It's so nice to meet new friends, especially from Canada. The wildlife and scenery is beautiful there. I hope to hear from you, and have a sweet day.

  30. Hello Pam,
A belated Happy Easter, It sounds like you had a marvelous weekend. Wow the river sure is high, I was seeing a lot of high water when we returned from Ottawa this time. I can't imagine looking out back and seeing 35 deer, what a wonderful view that would be.

Your Easter Cupcakes look scrumptious, I noticed the little chocolates beside the plates. This year I opted to do a little chocolate for the kids - I feel they get so much. My son was so disappointed when he came over and this was the first year I didn't have an egg hunt, I think I'll remember this always oh and he is 25 btw. lol. Your pictures are lovely.
