It's the Victoria Day holiday weekend with Monday as a statutory holiday in honour and memory of Queen Victoria.
Murray took today, Friday, off for a 4 day weekend but we aren't going anywhere. We have too much to do around here plus it's going to rain for half the holiday weekend. Today was gorgeous - sunny and warm at 24C. I started the day with a walk at Mactaquac Provincial Park with two friends. I haven't walked
much at all for months so the one hour walk was almost painful. :)
This is one of the golf fairways I think and the club house is up the slope in the centre of the picture. In the winter this is a sliding hill where the grass is yellowed.
After our walk we went to Grey's Greenhouse - our local plant grower. The greenhouses are amazing and seeing the colour sure was wonderful.
I only looked today. Next weekend I hope to buy!!
Even the view behind the greenhouses is beautiful! Can you see the green in the tree tops?
Murray and I, well mostly Murray, have been working on the lot all week in the evenings. We raked rocks, and more rocks, and spread grass seed. Then we staked out the vegetable garden plot tonight. It's going to be 22' x 54.5'. Do you think it will be big enough? I don't know what we're going to plant yet but I sure hope the deer stay away! Murray helped our neighbours today and they helped us. It was a great day but we are so tired and sore.
A friend of ours built me a bluebird house so Murray got it up on a pole tonight. I had to have it done so the birds could find it and get nesting! So, one last thing before we came in the house was to put this up.
Here it is attached to a tree stump. He used an old antenna pole and bolted it down. I think it's raccoon proof but I might buy a baffle to prevent them or squirrels from trying to climb up. I've never had a bluebird box before so I'm pretty excited to see if they will come. I will let you know and hopefully get pictures!
And. The perfect end to a perfect day.
Saturday will be nice for a while but then the rain will come in and it will be cooler. I hope my Canadian friends have a wonderful, fun and safe holiday weekend.
