a parcel in the mail

Johanna, of the beautiful blog ~ Silber und Rosen or Silver and Rose ~ writes from Germany.  I have followed her blog for a couple of years and always enjoy her beautiful tea posts with her pretty china and lovely tea time goodies all beautifully presented with flowers or candles and her special touches.

At the end of October Johanna had a drawing for a lovely gift of a candle and package of serviettes.  My name was one of the ones drawn!  I was pretty excited.  We could choose the colour of candle and also the style of serviettes that we preferred.  Since Christmas and winter are coming I chose the white candle and the sweet napkins with the robin sitting in a heart wreath of holly and berries, which are so sweet.

When Murray brought in the mail yesterday I was delighted to receive a parcel with my name on it.  When I saw the return address I knew what it was.  I was amazed that this parcel came all the way from Germany in just over 2 weeks!  Sometimes the mail takes a lot longer than that and I really thought I wouldn't receive this gift until about Christmas time.   Johanna added a sweet pink bow with 2 ornaments attached - a star and a heart - to the gift, as well as a lovely note card of the photo of the vignette she used in her blog for the drawing.  Thank you so much Johanna.  I love it!

Johanna has an on line shop where she sells many beautiful things.  It is in German but you can order through her.  {click on the link}

I decided to share a tea time setting with this pretty candle and the serviettes and added one of my new Christmas mugs from Johnson Bros. that I purchased at HomeSense recently.  My treat is a couple of chocolate digestive cookies.

Have you started your Christmas decorating?  I have been doing a bit here and there.  I managed to 'acquire' a case of Vertigo last Thursday.  Yep.  "I'm dizzy, my head is spinning.  Like a whirlpool, it never ends".  Oh my.  It's not fun at all.  I have to be so careful with every move I make  ~ standing, sitting, lying down or getting up, leaning my head forward, backward and sideways.  Have you ever had Vertigo?  So my decorating is going very slowly because of this dizziness.  I may go and have the 'manoeuvre' done by my physiotherapist as I hear it will actually make it stop or it won't.  And I may vomit in the process.  Yikes.  Doesn't sound very pleasant does it?  Has anyone had that done.  My GP gave me a prescription that might help but recommended I try the thing with the physiotherapist first.  I'll let you know how that goes, if I don't chicken out!

There's another beautiful sunset tonight (no photo).  It's zero Celsius and very windy.  Brr.  The snow we got yesterday has almost all melted again.  I hear Buffalo NY got a ton of snow!  I feel sorry for them.

Have a great evening and stay cozy and safe.

Blessings,

Pam

  3. I don't know anything about vertigo, but it sounds very unpleasant, so I hope that you can get it sorted out by some method or other very soon. Take care of yourself in the meantime and sit back and enjoy your beautiful parcel. What lovely things to have received. I have decided that bloggers are really the nicest of people aren't they for sharing presents! xx

  4. The gift you received is lovely. I have had vertigo before, was told it was a virus type and it did go away fairly quickly. Not a good feeling and I would hate to have it any longer than I did. Hope you are feeling well soon.

  5. Hi Pamela,
Your gift from Johanna is lovely and it came at a wonderful time too. She's a dear. Arriving all the way from Germany in just two weeks is pretty good considering my first giveaway went all the way to Australia and took three months to get there. Vertigo is awful and another blogger said she had it too. It's most unpleasant. Feel better soon, my friend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  7. It's always a blessing to get happy mail! And yours is very happy...so lovely.

No, as a U.S. citizen, I usually wait until Thanksgiving has been celebrated...sometimes, I combine them, but only with lots of snow on the ground. I will begin in earnest the day after our Thanksgiving.

Yes, I have had bouts of vertigo. Fortunately, my sister-in-law shared the treatment her doc was having her do...so simple...a resetting of the inner ear. Perhaps you could Google it. That said, go see the doc if it keeps up. It's so uncomfortable to be dizzy. Hope that you get relief quick!

I hope you feel better soon. I started cleaning and pulling out a few pretty things today. I need to get a Christmas mug out to use. Stay warm! Hugs, Diane

  16. You are a lucky one. Very pretty. Funny that you should ask about vertigo as I am dealing the same right now. I finally went to the doctor who told to take a decongestant, a generic called Suphedrine or pseudoephedrine hydrochloride. I take it morning and night and it helps. This is my second bout with it. I even went to the chiropractor and left even dizzier. I hope you find relief from your vertigo.

  19. What a nice gift to win Pamela! I hope you feel better. Vertigo is hard to deal with. I've been taking it easy after eye surgery but watching a gand baby keeps me busy, regardless. :) I do not beging to decorate until after our Thanksgiving holiday. Then is is a mad rush to do so...lol!

So sorry to hear about your bout with Vertigo. No, I have never had it, but I do suffer from dizzy spells occasionally, which aren't fun. Good luck with the tentative treatment and hope you feel better soon!

  23. What a lucky girl to have mail at that a parcel and with your name on it, you won congratulations and what a nice surprise, nice you were able to pick. Decorating, no, not that I can't only that the space is way too small besides, I'll wait till I get down with the kids and I usually decorate the RV and I have a party with all 8 grandchildren inside and they get to eat and pick at treats. That is their once a year birthday and holiday present from me. 2 weeks of delivery and from that far away, amazing. Well my friend I have to go, the RV is running and someone is waiting for me to get into the front seat, I'll be back to visit soon I hope.

  24. Pam, what a beautiful gift you received. The candle is so pretty and I love the little bird. I'm so sorry that you have vertigo. I, luckily, have never had it but have a friend who has and she says it is horrible. When she feels a spell coming on she falls straight back on her bed and this seems to put things in the right perspective (for her). I don't know but maybe you could try it. Hope you are able to take your treatment and that it helps..Take care, Judy

  25. A very lovely gift you have received all the way from Germany and I like the little vignette you have created. It looks so warm and cozy which is something we all seem to need right about now.
I hope your vertigo has subsided by now. I had it once last fall and it is an awful feeling. I bent down to reach for something in a drawer and when I came up it hit me. I was surprised at how suddenly it came on. My dr. told me that is the way it always comes on. She gave me a prescription and said if it worked then it was caused by a virus and if it didn't I should try the maneuver to get the ear "rocks" or "crystals" back where they should be. The pills seemed to take care of it for me, although I have saved the link to the maneuver just in case it returns. I hope to not have to go through that again.

  26. Congratulations! It's always fun to win something!

  27. Oh dear, vertigo is no fun. I've had it several times. Yes the maneuver does help. I've had it done with a therapist and also on my own. The steps are on the web and I did all the positions on my bed.

  33. What beautiful images created from your lovely giveaway! So sorry about the vertigo. Mr. C. had it some years back. He went to a doctor who had him lie down, turn his head to the side, then sit up really fast, repeat on the other side (I think it was) and Voile! Vertigo GONE. He had had it really bad, and no kidding, it was gone in an instant. Hope you can get relief soon! Love all your Christmassy images!
