good-byes

The lane in autumn.  October 31, 2014

A gnarly old apple tree.

The good-byes have been said and now we are left to carry on.
Thank you so much for all your kind expressions of sympathy at the passing of my brother last week.  It's been a difficult week for us all but we have that eternal and blessed hope of seeing him again.

Following the beautiful and emotional service and reception on Friday, we drove the country highway then along the narrow lane to the rural cemetery for his final resting place.  It's a place I will never forget.  It was pouring rain and cold but the lingering rusty leaves on the oak trees surrounding the old cemetery and littering the ground gave the spot a warm glow on the dreary day. We stood under big umbrellas and our tears flowed as the rain fell.  Oh how we'll miss him.

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."  Romans 8:18

Again, thank you and God bless you.

Pam

  2. It is going to stay on with you and never leave. The first year especially.

Somehow a rural cemetery seems at least fitting. More tranquil.

  4. It always seems as if rain should fall on those days. How would the sun even dare to shine... Grieving is such a journey...praying for peace, comfort, and some joy, too, for the way.

  14. But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.…1 Thess. 4:13-14

Aren't you thankful for this blessed hope. You are in my thoughts and prayers. These photos so fit the mood of seasons, life and death. Sending you hugs and prayers.

  16. Our departed ones live on as we share our memories and pass on the the life lessons our loved ones taught us. They leave behind their own legacy that we cherish always. Such pretty and simple photos that you share today remind us of the natrual beauty around us that we must remember to appreciate and to give thanks for the glory in God who makes all things possible. The prayers don't stop because the memorial service ends. A blog hug for you.
