Sunlit Sunday # 4

Amaryllis blossom.

I didn't have to look too hard for sunlit photos this past week.  It was sunny from Tuesday through Friday and cold.  We had rain on Monday which took down the snow a lot then the cold air returned.

On the sunny afternoons I wish I could sit out on our deck and relax in the sun but it's much warmer to look at it from behind the inside.  :-)  Shadows from the deck railing and a container of greenery stretch across the floor.

On Friday morning we had the most beautiful sunrise.  Maybe I said that the other morning too, but I can't help it.  The sunrises this month have been spectacular!

I bought two bouquets of flowers on Thursday at the grocery store.  Pretty daisies and mums.  Well, maybe they're both mums.  I'm not sure.  The sun was shining in the dining room window on them.

Friday's sunset wasn't overly colourful at this point but it was interesting with the jet contrails and clouds looming on the horizon.

Once the sun had sunk into the west the sky turned rosy and mauve.  You can see there isn't much snow on the field.

We woke to a reddish sunrise this morning but the clouds soon came in.  There was a fresh dusting of snow overnight but tonight we're to get the big nor'easter that's traveling across the northeast US and we will be getting a good lot of snow.

I'm joining Karen at My Little Home and Garden for tomorrow's Sunlit Sunday.

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe if you have to be out in the stormy weather.

Blessings,
Pam

  1. You have a beautiful location for seeing both sunrise and sunset. It will be interesting to see how much snow the storm bring you. We are being told that it will be only an inch or two in our swath.

  20. Your amaryllis glows in the sunlight, Pam. I carefully saved mine from last Christmas (haven't tried that before) and then neglected it come fall so I may have done it in! The skies are spectacular viewed from your home. It may be primarily bungalows in my neighbourhood, but they do get in the way views like that. Your flowers are pretty too. Someone here might nibble the petals if I get a bouquet . . .

    Have a lovely week, Pam

  24. Sunrise is my favorite time of day. We have an old saying Red sky at night, sailor's delight, red sky at morn, sailors take warn. Which means that if there is a red sunset the next day will be nice weather and if there is a red dawn there is a storm coming.
