vintage aprons and ironstone, spring is in the air....somewhere

SPRING is in the air....somewhere.

I have several pieces of vintage ironstone that I move around the living/dining rooms in different seasons.  Sometimes they sit it out in a cupboard but I like to display it when I can.   I often have the white pitcher on the table with real or faux flowers in it.  Today they are faux tulips and pussywillows.  I was going to buy some fresh tulips at the grocery store but decided to wait.   And the pussywillows aren't making their appearance in the roadside ditches yet.  These will have to do.

It's officially SPRING  today in the northern hemisphere and I'm ready to celebrate it even if the weather and temperature don't show it.

The aqua mug is from Medicine Hat Potteries in Alberta.  I love the colour of course.  It holds two vintage Easter eggs.  The white pudding bowl is one of a set of 3 and holds faux ceramic eggs.  Did you notice the pretty aprons in the background?  I found them at Value Village a few years ago.  They aren't in great shape but make a pretty accent to the wall space between the kitchen and dining room for spring.

Another ironstone bowl in my favourite aqua colour (I have a pink one too) serves up some pastel eggs next to a jar of speckled eggs.

This is an old calendar page that I cut out and put in an old picture frame.  The calendar artwork is by John Sloan and I always loved to buy his calendars from Lang.  I love this one because of the old farmhouse, apple tree, sheds, and the blooming forsythia bush, tulips and trees.  It's speaks of SPRING to me.

I want to wish each of you a beautiful SPRING day even if it's not looking like it where you live yet.  It will come.  I keep telling myself that every day even though we have over 4 feet of snow in most areas.  Spring weather will come eventually and we'll be ready for it.  It is to warm up to +2C today and it's a gorgeous sunny day.   ENJOY!

HAPPY SPRING TO YOU!

Blessings,
Pam

  3. Such pretties on the first day of Spring which, as you say my dear, doesn't seem to have arrived in your still snowy area! It will improve though and meanwhile inside your cozy house all looks delightful. Love the Easter theme with aqua shades, bunnies and eggs - especially love the ironstone bowl in that beautiful color!

I need to post on my bunnies soon - they are ready to bring a little Spring/Easter feeling to the dining room - nothing fancy, but I must get them out of their storage box!

Sending warm wishes, although it's cooled off again here, but nothing white falling, just rain!
    Happy Spring -
    Hugs - Mary

  4. I don't think I've ever thought of framing a calendar page. I make a calendar each year of pictures my hubby has taken on our travels, and some of them are really art quality.

  5. My collection of white jugs is my favorite and, like you, I use them in most of my displays . Medalta potteries is a wonderful place filled with history in Medicine Hat! Kaleb and Jami had their wedding ceremony and reception there... Almost 3 years ago ! It is a popular venue for events. So, next time you travel through Medicie Hat you must let me know! Lang calendars were a popular item that I carried when I had the gift shop and tea room. I have saved a few and make use of the lovely pictures as well . Spring will find you soon!

  9. You've created a gorgeous welcome to spring...and I do so love the colors and props that you used. Speckled eggs and Medelta pottery, it's a big love. I think I mentioned that my Dad at one time had one of the biggest collections of it anywhere in the world....our house was full to overflowing.

  10. Beautiful ironstone ware, Pam! I love the colours of your decorations, and your photos are very elegant.
As to the weather, my next post will still show images of snow and ice, and I was wondering if anybody wants to see photos like that anymore. :)
    Have a lovely weekend!

  11. The days should just keep getting better and better now that the calendar tells us spring has arrived. We have rain for the first full day of spring tomorrow. The gardens are appearing in the sun trapped areas of the garden, can even see green shoots of the perennial onions :) Happy spring.

  12. Very springlike, though one look out the window tells another tale. It struggled to get above the freezing mark here today.

  19. Happy Spring to you too - it is a very blustery day here - the wind is moaning around the eaves of the house and the rain is pounding against the windows - yet the hyacinths are brave and standing tall on the deck. It is a good day and evening to curl up with a hot cup of tea and a handwork project. and dream of the warmer weather to come. I love the bright colors in your photos - they are very springy even if you have 4 feet of snow outdoors.

  24. These are lovely illusions of spring! Actually, our winter in the west has been a lot like spring for the most part. However, on the first official day of the season, it started to rain and has yet to stop. :)
