an evening walk

Dahlia

On one of my evening walks last week I took my camera along and got some photos of the blooming trees along the road.  The photos of the dahlias are at a friends house nearby.  I stopped in as she was watering them and we had a nice visit in the yard.

Isn't this pink gorgeous?

The apple blossoms are spectacular this year.  These are wild trees.

Pin Cherry tree.

A bridal spirea in full bloom at a neighbour's.

These tulips are 'volunteers' in the ditch.  The homeowner grew red tulips in a bed next to the ditch for a long time and must have changed their mind and tossed them out as they weren't growing there this year.  These ones grew and bloomed anyway.

We had a very nasty storm blow through the Fredericton area late Friday afternoon that brought dozens of lightening strikes, torrential rains which caused flash flooding in the city, trees and huge limbs came down from the gusty winds, and power was out for thousands.  It was a real gully washer!  We've had some sunny, humid and hot days the past week but today was cloudy and showery and chilly.  The next few days are going to be much colder than normal but mind you, the last week has been hotter than normal.  So what's normal?  Around 20 C is normal and we had almost 30 C for a few days.  Tuesday coming will only be 7C!!  Brrr.

Guess what?  Tomorrow I'm going to be meeting a blogger from Ontario right here in Fredericton.  Do you know Linda Keaveney from the blog "woke up,got out of bed...."  ?  She is coming to New Brunswick with her 'boyfriend' and has made plans to include visiting me!  I'm pretty excited to meet Linda in person. I've followed her blog for quite a while now and if you do too, you will know all about her beautiful photography of their cottage, the flowers and beach and gardens, the wonderful meals she prepares, and her sweet little Miss V.   I guess I should take my camera along so we can get some pictures of us eh?   I'm so excited!!

Thanks for stopping by and for all your sweet comments on my last post.
I hope you have a great week and that it's warmer than it will be here!

Blessings,
Pam

  2. Such lovely blooms after your long winter. We have had the heat and humidity, then tons of rain this weekend with a high of 8C today. How great that you get to meet a blog friend. I am not familiar with her blog but I will be checking out this fellow Ontarian.

  11. Oh that storm must have been awful. I know that Linda is thrilled that she didn't lose her newly-planted tree.

Wish Imhad some cheerful tulip volunteers. I do cull my garden into "the luge" so it will be interesting to see what comes up...so far I see that there will be lilies and columbine.

Your friend's dahlias are wonderful.mI want some this year!

Have fun on your blog meet...will take a peek at her blog.

  13. Oh I'm thinking you will have a great day! Loved seeing the blooms in your region and am also wondering about the dahlias blooming already. The bridal spirea is what I have always called bridal wreath.. but I'm thinking spirea is what it is really called.

  22. Pam, those dahlias are gorgeous and I love your apple and cherry blossoms; so pretty. I have never grown dahlias because we were always moving and now that we're settled, I am not able to garden. Oh well, I can enjoy others' photos like yours. My, but it's cold today! It's only 8 degrees over here right now. Your flowers are way ahead of ours. I don't have a blossom on my Bridal Veil yet but they will come once it warms up. How exciting to meet up with a blogger friend! I'm sure you both had a lovely visit.
I have family coming over from Moncton tomorrow. I always look forward to their visit.
Enjoy the rest of the week and if your weather turns warm, please send some our way.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
