red sky in the morning

Wednesday morning's sunrise....sailors take warning.

I was dressed so I grabbed the camera and ran outside to capture the sunrise.

Before the light went out of the sky it shed its glow over the clouds even further.  Spectacular!

It snowed all day long from 10 until about 7:30 then changed to freezing rain before changing to rain as the temperature crept up overnight.

At the height of the storm yesterday afternoon.

I didn't go outside to take these pics.  :-)

I'm longing to spend some time out here in the warm sunshine.
We only got about 8cm. of snow and this morning we woke up to fog and rain with a temperature of 9c.

Our view this morning.

Remember our snowmen?  They couldn't stand the heat.  Haha. This is how they looked on Monday.  They didn't even last 24 hours.  Today there is just a small lump left of the one on the left side.

***********
Not much going on here.  I'm still working at the puzzle and have reached the most difficult stage of finding pieces which are so much alike in colour that it's very frustrating.  I'm guessing it's 2/3 done.  I'll post a photo when I've completed it.

********
Are any of you sports fans?  Will you be watching the Super Bowl this weekend and eating lots of 'super bowl' food with family and friends?  Have you noticed that magazines, TV shows and grocery store flyers talk about all these special dishes one can make to eat while watching the game on TV?  And there's not much that is 'healthy eating' going on either!  All I can think of is all the fat and sodium in it.  LOL  I guess for one day a person can go all out and have fun.  Maybe we live a boring life and need to have more fun!!
I hope you all enjoy it and that your team wins.

Have a great day and thanks for visiting.

Blessings,
Pam

  4. Great photo opportunity first thing in the morning!! Doesn't God paint a perfect picture. Not sure if we will be watching the Super Bowl or not? But you are right about all the yummy recipes that are out there right now just for the sports occasion! Enjoy whatever you decide to indulge in!!

  6. Glorious skies in that sunrise.

I won't be watching the Super Bowl... I find football tedious at best.

  7. Red sky pictures are wonderful . . .
even if it means sailors take warning!
I would run out and catch them too!
Snowing here today . . . and a bit of rain mixed in . .
The Super Bowl will probably be on in the background . . .
but not as interested in all the hype . . .
My book will probably be the winner!

  9. What a beautiful sunrise! It's my favourite part of the day and your sunrise-over-snow is every bit as gorgeous as our sunrise-over-water.

  10. Super Bowl Sunday? That's this weekend. Who knew.

    I better go buy snacks.

Love your snow (love that it's yours)

  12. Gorgeous photo of a glorious sunrise, even if it did bring the snow, I'm sure you'll be pleased it didn't last long. Mr France is the sports follower in our house and this weekend is the start of the 6 nations ( England, Ireland,Scotland ,Wales, France & Italy ) Rugby tournament. Our grandson plays rugby and was injured during the match last weekend, and won't be able to play, so that means rugby will be being watched in our house. I might go and have a look in the new charity shop that's opened ( A nightmare for Mr France )

  13. Beautiful sunrise pix Pamela - and the countryside looked lovely before the snow melted. WE are supposed to get some next week - fingers crossed - I want a little real snow, not ice as we had last week!
I have absolutely NO interest in football so won't be watching or partying. . . . . even though I'm hoping that our Carolina Panthers win of course, just to make the neighbors happy at their parties!

    Hugs - Mary

  14. Beautiful sunrise Pam. We aren't Superbowl fans at all, we prefer curling. As for all those fast food snacks they are promoting, I just skip right over them. I agree, they are full of all sorts of things that we don't need to eat. I'm a plain and simple cook.

  16. I just can't get over the vivid colors in that morning sky! Poor little snowmen, though :(

  17. What a dramatic sky but the rain sure ruined your pretty snow. We love a good football game and Carolina is one of our favorite teams so we'll enjoy the game. Maybe have something good to eat that's healthy too! lol Hugs!

  18. It is amazing how it can snow like that and then all disappear isn't it. The pictures of the sky are incredible!! I never tire of looking at beautiful sunrises or sunsets! xx

  22. Glorious! I took a very pretty morning picture looking west...the treetops were tinged with pink. After all the amazing photos of gorgeous skies I've seen this week, I think I'll keep it to myself.

Oh the poor snowmen. Hope that you get enough snow to go for a little ride through the forest trails. We're supposed to get a few inches tomorrow.

  23. Beautiful skies ... We had a pink sky this evening but we are to get snow tomorrow.. Oh no... hope you have fun watching the sport.. Happy Weekend..xo

  24. Because we live at such high altitude we never get rain in winter. It snows right through May! That sunrise was very beautiful. Of course they'll be some junk food for Super Bowl. Go Broncos!

  25. The contrast between the rich colour in the sunrise photos and the monochromatic snow photos is really something. Both are beautiful in their own way. Is it Super Bowl weekend? We don't follow sports at all. I agree with you about the recipes - sitting for hours and eating all that food is not at all healthy! Have a good weekend!

  26. Wow, what a spectacular sunrise! So beautiful! It's too bad that wonderful colour couldn't last into the day instead of being so short-lived.
More snow today... but we've been so lucky so far!

  27. We may be the only people in town with no special Super Bowl food. The city is wild with enthusiasm about their team playing! We're not big football fans but this is one to watch for sure.

  28. I keep hearing about snowstorms in New Brunswick! Hope all is well!

  30. I am still amazed at how little snow you have this year. It's the same here. It pays to be an early bird to catch such a glorious sunrise on a winter's day. Sunshine Always!

  31. I hate it when snow turns to freezing rain/rain. Takes all the fun out of it and makes for dangerous driving. That is a gorgeous sunset! I'm watching a faint rosy glow appear in the eastern sky just now, and wondering if that will blossom into something camera worthy. Good luck with your puzzlin' ;)

  33. There is such wonderful contrast between in your sunrise image and the grey day scenes.
I wouldn't be going out either, but I can understand your cabin fever - I always want to get out for a walk in the fresh air!
However, having to get dressed for the cold and put snow shoes on I imagine could make it very easy to get back to your puzzle for a day!

Superbowl was on TV here but we didn't watch it - although the game is being played here now in the main centres! Rugby is our national game and I'm a great enthusiast!

Enjoy your week and keep warm

  35. Hi Pam, Thanks for visiting my blog and for the congratulations on my new granddaughter. Love your photos. Isn't it interesting how one view can change so drastically over 24 hours. Beautiful sunsets, like God's paintbrush in the sky. ~ Abby
