fall photos

Fall is moving along and the colours have been spectacular this year but, sadly, the leaves are dropping very fast now and many trees are bare.

It is time to put the garden decor away.

Last Saturday was a beautiful warm sunny day and we walked down to the local orchard to watch the pie contest.  There were only a few contestants and the pies were pumpkin and apple.  I had a sample of the winning apple pie after it was all over and it was delicious.

The judges had a great time tasting the samples and this judge's plate was empty when it was all over.

Afterward I went for a walk down through the orchard to take some pictures.  I was heading for that row of colourful maples.

There was a sweet country wedding held right here a few weeks ago.

I walked down the road through the orchard to this spot of  brilliant colours.

The pumpkin patch is down here too.

Look at that view!!

We are getting a big rain and wind storm today plus it rained yesterday.  It has a tropical feel to it and is 16C and we may even get thunder showers later on.  We sure need the rain in our area as it was a dry summer.  After this is over the temperatures will drop into the single digits Celsius but we've had a good run of beautiful fall weather up until now so I won't complain.

I'll be back next week with more fall photos but I'm pretty sure there won't be as many leaves in them as they are falling off in the wind and rain.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,
Pam

  2. Wow, exactly what I imagine fall to be like! Gorgeous photos, and the pie is making me hungry:-) We've had a beautiful week here in the NC mountains, but wind and rain, which we are desperate for, has take down a lot of the leaves. We still have most of the maples and oaks that have not turned yet, though.

  7. Gorgeous fall colours Pam. We've had similar, but with 2 days of heavy rains and wind a lot of the leaves have come down quickly. Enjoy the weekend.

  11. Stunning, glorious, marvelous, there are not enough adjectives. I do delight in a New Brunswick view. It's a bit more open than in my corner and one can see farther. Now I could get excited about a pie contest! Did they share recipes?

I have one tree in the back yard that still has leaves, the rest have all fallen. It's still nothing but rain and clouds here....

  19. Such wonderful Autumn photos, the light was just right to show the vibrant colours Of each & everyone. I manged to take time yesterday morning to capture a few shots of the trees nearby our home. No time to go out & about where I usually choose to snap away. Oh well I'll have to wait till next year who knows where I'll be.

  20. Beautiful colours!! I love the shot of the white farm house bathed in sunshine with dark clouds coming up behind ... my favourite kind of lighting in the fall. Don't you love the brilliant clear light of fall? You captured some wonderful images of your area, and I'm quite envious. Here the leaves only just started changing colour a little over a week ago, but high winds recently stripped many trees bare already. It's such a touchy season. Have a great week ahead Pam,
    Wendy

  21. Gorgeous photos, Pam of a beautiful autumn day, complete with vibrant coloured leaves, plump, orange pumpkins and hilly, tree-lined roads.

The weather has changed here, too. Yesterday, my daughter and I froze (!) waiting for the bus to go to my sister's in Uxbridge, Ontario. It was a half hour late, and we kept pacing back and forth, thinking it would arrive any minute, instead of waiting in the shelter across the street. Very windy and very cold.

    Have a lovely week!
    Hugs,
    Poppy

  22. Your colours really are spectacular! The pie contest looks like a lot of fun, especially for the judges! We've had lots of rain recently, but enough sunny days to make things balance out okay. Have a good week, Pamela.

  23. You captured such incredible and amazing color and light in your photographs, pure joy right here! Just loved every picture you took, and the special moments you got to spend with your family in the orchard! The very first picture, and the one of the old trailer against the backdrop of colorful trees are just gorgeous. Well, all of them are! And the pies, oh yum! Such fun moments, a blessed time visiting with you today :)

  24. What beautiful photos, Pam! Alas, after this wind dies down, there won't be too many leaves left on the trees over here. They should call us The Windy Island! The pie eating contest must have been fun and I'm sure the judges enjoyed every morsel. Your shot of the house is really lovely. Autumn really does have its own kind of beauty. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely week.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  25. gorgeous lighting. love the glow in a few of those shots. so amazing. i think that is why i enjoy the fall time. i miss it not getting so dark so early .. but i guess you have to give up something to get all the fall blooms and colors. give and take i guess. i think i need only 1 piece of pie. but i know i dream of more, but the waist line is not cool it though. ha. ha! 27. Beautiful, simply beautiful!! The trees are gorgeous as is your photography, Pam. I'm sad that our color isn't very good this year. Some trees are nice, but overall the trees aren't nearly as pretty here as in past years.
And the pie...yum! I could go for a slice right now. :)

  28. Such gorgeous fall photos, Pam - and what a wonderful way to spend a fall afternoon! Pumpkin farms, beautiful scenery, and pie eating contests have to be the very best things about fall. Pie is my favorite and now I am craving some badly. I just might have to do some baking soon....Love the photo of the house tucked in among the colorful trees :) This season does go by too fast! xx Karen

  29. Truly spectacular!
Wet snow has been falling in some parts of our country in these days.
    Enjoy the last autumn colours!

  30. These are stunning! I know I have seen of them on facebook but they look even better on your blog! We are getting some nice color in some areas but it seems a lot of them are turning brown on the trees. In a couple of weeks we should be at our peak time here where I live...then it's all down hill from there, although I do hope to get a bit of snow this winter :)

  31. These are every one magnificent photos of some beautiful subjects....and I've always wanted to enter a pie eating contest...how fun would that be...wonder if they serve icy cold milk with it...xoxo
