ticking stripes

I had this piece of vintage ticking material and some muslin so had a cushion made.

I am not a seamstress but I have a friend who is very capable.

This is the reverse muslin side.
The quilt is a vintage baby quilt the size of a throw.
I love the yellow and white pattern.

I removed the wicker plant stand from the deck as the plants were
really getting past their prime.
I moved things around and added some real pumpkins.

Don't you love the punch of colour?

I took this photo yesterday.  The sky was that blue and totally cloudless!
Do you see the colour in the hills?
That tall red leafed tree is like that every fall.
I don't know what kind of tree it is or if it might be a vine.
Some day I'll take a walk down the field to see (when the cows are removed!).

I hope you are enjoying the beauty of autumn where you are.

I am joining Tracie for Outdoor Fall Decor Thursday's at

At Debra's blog Common Ground

  1. We don't have as much color here yet. That red tree is so beautiful! I am actually thinking that there was a lot of damage to our trees by that nasty tropical storm Irene because I've raked three times already and the leaves are brown, not the usual brightly colored ones. The punch of color on your deck is fabulous. It must make you grin every time you see it. (I'd sit out on my deck, but there seems to be a new outbreak of mosquitoes all of a sudden. They're miserable.)

  2. Your porch is so pretty. I love ticking. That red really stands out on the hill. Beautiful view!

  3. Look how your trees are changing color! And the porch looks great! Funny how that quilt is vintage --they don't make them like that anymore. That is a familiar pattern, I have one in pink and white from way back when.

  4. Hello Pamela:
We love ticking as a fabric for soft furnishings. It is so pretty but also very practical and hard wearing.Perfect for your cushion outdoors.

Your porch is looking very autumnal with its shades of russet and burnt orange and what a marvellous view you can enjoy whilst sitting there!

  5. Yes! The colors are wonderful! Love that cheery little quilt. Your new header mosaic is just beautiful too!

  6. Lovely pillow and baby quilt, makes the setting look very welcoming.

  7. The colours are wonderful and your view amazing. The ticking pillow, fall foliage and pumpkins are a great addition to your porch.

  8. Pamela
Your muskokan chair looks like the perfect place to sit back with a hot apple cider and enjoy the changing season! I always love ticking on anything-very homey.
We are nearly at our peak here in colors-beautiful! You are getting there. That red vine is smashing, for sure.
    Take care-Kimberly

  9. Pamela, the porch is so inviting and pretty! I love your photography. The train station in your previous post is absolutely amazing. Oh, how I love the stonework. Thanks for sharing this!

  10. Hello Pamela
The bright orange pumpkins look fantastic with the purple asters in the bushel basket.
We're starting to get some brilliant fall colours now too.

  11. I love your fall colors on the porch! What a lovely treat to be getting all these warm sunny days to enjoy your porch.

    take care,

  12. The porch looks great Pamela!
Your view is breathtaking~ I would be out there in that field with the cows. I love them so much!
That is one deep red tree. So pretty.

  13. I love those blue and white stripes with the yellow and white quilt - a wonderful take on fall.

  14. Very festive. I am drawn to signs and love the Cider Apple Butter and Pumpkins!!

  15. Pam that yellow quilt is wonderful and the perfect back drop for fall. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I really appreciate the comment. Richard from my Old Historic House.

  16. I can't wait for our color change here in the next month. Your photos are fantastic, and I love that yellow quilt!

  17. The ticking pillow and old quilt make a very sweet place to sit and relax. I love the color that the pumpkins and mums provide. Very nice vignette! Your porch looks so inviting.
    Hugs, Cindy

  18. Hi Pam te quilt is awesome. And the view in that wonderful photo you took. We are starting to show more signs of Autumn here in NE. My maple tree is dropping leaves all over my scarecrow and pumpkins, adding some natural flare,
    Happy Fall

  19. Pamela, I love the ticking fabric!! I was thinking about trying to find some today, though there are not many options here. Love you photo!! We are starting to get color, so I expect in a couple weeks it will be really pretty. Thanks, again for stopping by!! I always love to read your sweet comments!!

  20. Very beautiful, Pamela! I love ticking stripes, they are always in style, aren't they? We don't have any color to speak of yet – our whole year has been a month late so I think it will be some weeks still. Have a wonderful weekend!

  21. Your porch looks so pretty! I love the quilt and I've always loved ticking (although I usually go for the red).
