rainy day

No, the picture is not blurry.

That is rain.

Rain beating against the window.

Rain pouring down from the heavens and washing
the earth and everything it touches.

Rain pouring in rivulets down the driveway,
filling the ditches.

I've been visiting around blog land, watching a little TV,
and, I cleaned out the bookshelves in the living room.
Sort of.

We are having the house painted inside sometime soon.
The wall in the built in bookshelf has never been painted.
Our house is now 40 years old and that wall is still the original
  dirty off white.

Not that it really matters because I have so many books,
pictures and knick knacks that one can't really see the wall.

I went through the books and have 2 grocery bags to give
away.  I packed up the photos and trinkets but I have
no place to store the rest of the books so will leave them until I  know for sure when the painters will be coming.

I have chosen Hepplewhite Ivory, a Benjamin Moore
Historical Colour, to cover the currently yellow walls.
The book shelves are a stained plywood and I hope to paint
them white.

{I'll save that for another post}

I just heard the sump pump so I guess there is a lot of
rain soaking down into the ground.  Thankfully, the
pump is working.

I'm glad I didn't have to go out today.

What do you do on a rainy day?

I guess I'll go read have a nap for a bit before I get supper ready.
It's raining, I'm tired.
Reading = a nap.
Yes it does!

Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings,

Pamela

  1. Hi Pamela
At least on rainy days you can get things done that are normally left during gardening season. I barely clean the house in the summer, I'd rather be in the garden.

  3. Pam, we'd never make it in the Pacific Northwest. I'm feeling lower than a snake's belly. John just came in and looked me right in the eye and said that if it rains one more day, he doesn't know what he'll do. Yup. We is officially sick of it. Sounds as if you are, too.

At least you've got something exciting to look forward to...the house being painted. Way cool! I'm off to see if I can find the paint color you've chosen.

That is surely the quickest way to fall asleep-try to read a book.
Rain is good-we had snow for two days. Yes, I'm whining. I'm sick of it.
Your house is really going to be freshened up with all this painting that
your planning. I can't wait to see it!

  12. You must be getting the rain that finally left our area today after three days of downpour, Pamela. It was good to see the sun again today!

I look forward to seeing how you newly painted bookshelves look. I plan of going through my bookshelves when I have some free time as I finally found a local charity that accepts book donations.

  13. I really like when it rains as long as there are no severe storms. And a nap IS always a good thing :)

  14. It DOES look like another good soaking in your area Pamela. Hope there's not a lot of flooding.
We had heavy rain a couple of days too - however today was perfect and I was able to do a little garden clean up.
Also helped Bob get twigs and bits off the roof - well at least I held the ladder and passed him the blower!!!! I'm adverse to climbing high ladders.

A fresh coat of paint always looks and feels good - and of course it's the only time I really get to move the big, heavy items like the armoire! Housework............it's getting harder every year!

Read and nap..............yes happens here too!
Hugs - hope it dries up quickly.

  15. Hi Pamela, my favorite thing to do after a rain storm is to stroll the gardens. I love how the earth smells and everything looks renewed. I don't even mind being caught in a rainstorm. Kind of fun once in a while. Good luck with your painting. I think it will be lovely. It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do.
    Hugs,
    Jann

  16. Your window pic is very much what I have been seeing here for the past six weeks! Still, looking on the bright side, everything is looking very green now.

  18. I like that picture you have of the rain - rain must be pretty in NB! We are not getting a whole lot of rain, but it is chilly here. I am out walking everyday and am loving all the pretty flower gardens in the neighbourhood. Diane

  19. Nice photo, Pamela! Yes, we got a lot of rain yesterday! We had to get groceries and do a little shopping; not so nice in the downpour. But today is beautiful and all the dandelions on the lawn tell us it is Springtime and warm weather is on the way. I don't really mind the dandies because their perky faces mean the snow is gone for another year. Enjoy your day, my friend, and Happy Mother's Day weekend to you.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
