it's time for fall colours

Hydranges blooms in 3 aqua bottles on top of the tall china cabinet.

It's that time of year again.

Time to get out a few fall decorations and add
some orange, rust and turquoise to my home

I cut some hydrangea blossoms today and
made a couple of bouquets.  This one sits on
the kitchen windowsill.  Don't you love
the soft green, pink and cream of these blooms?

I also like to add some traditional fall colours to the decor.
This chair is at the top of the stairs.

These gourds were at Superstore the other day.
The long necked one looks like a bird's head. :)
Can you see it?

In the living room ~
another bouquet of hydrangea is in an aqua
mason jar on the coffee table.
My friend gave me the copper lustre candle
holders.  I can't wait to light them to see how
they glow.

In the dining room ~
a favorite fall quilted table runner centers the antique platter, pitcher and brass candlesticks.
The colourful painting on the wall is the only oil painting we have.  It was painted by a family
friend and she called it "Autumn Leaves".
I love the colours in it.

There are a few changes on the china hutch.
I added a fall vine, berries and the vintage turkey
plate by Johnson Bros. that I found in a thrift
store last summer.  I've added touches of turquoise
here and there too.  I think I'd like to find some
more things in turquoise or teal.  It goes so
well with orange and rust.

There you have it.  Just a few simple touches
to add a seasonal flair.

Have a great day!

  1. You have some pretty Autumn touches, Pamela! Love the hydrangeas in the aqua bottle. The turquoise cup is pretty too. I hope to pick up some gourds tomorrow. 'Tis the season, although I would still prefer to be moving into Spring and Summer. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Your pretty fall decorations are lovely. I especially like the blue/teal glass ware. Yes, it would be fun to collect some more. Happy Fall!

  3. You are inspiring me to "get with It" with my fall decorating. Your touches of fall in your home are wonderful!

  4. I think hydrangea bloom are one of the nicest...don't you??
Going to look for a few for my new front walk...
I really should get a few "fally" things out as well...
There never seems to be enough hours in the day, to do everything I want to..

    Next week....for sure!

    Linda :o)

  5. I love bouquets of hydrangea at this time of year but I can never get them to dry nicely...can you?

  6. Nooooo, I'm NOT ready for Fall yet!! OK, I can handle the aqua glass and the hydrangea - love that soft pink blush! Your decor is lovely... I'm just not ready to look at pumpkins yet... lol

  7. You are off to a great start. The hydrangeas are gorgeous and in the turquoise glass they are stunning. I bet you enjoy all those bouquets in the house. I must make for myself a more substantial bouquet, though I have no hydrangeas. I agree with you on the aquas...they do make a lovely complement to the orange.

  8. Oh my friend, I did miss you and I'm so glad it was for great reasons too. I'm so happy to see your lovely and warm home again. You're hutch and fall vignettes are so pretty. The hydrangeas are beautiful in the turquoise and all the pretty flower arrangements. Nice come back, Pamela. Thanks for your visit and hope to see you more often in blog land.

  9. It's fun to see things we have in common. I think we've talked about the Dundee marmalade jar before --and the antique caned chair -- my parents had three along with a rocker ... very old, from my father's grandfather. And the white platter--I have my mother's and it appears the same. It is at least 70 years old but I use it a lot as I don't have a white platter. Brass candlesticks? Ditto, my parents. And white pitcher? Have one of those, from an antique shop. It goes to show that we all share a lot of similar tastes, and even possessions!

  10. Beautiful arrangements and fall colors! I'm more than ready for fall weather.

  11. Hi Pamela, I appreciate your visit to Quirky Vistas and the kind comment you left for me. I wanted to come over and see what you have going on over here. I've just gone back and looked through lots of your beautiful photography and enjoyed it immensely. What a great eye you have for capturing a scene. I'm your new follower. I hope you'll stop back by and follow as well, if you like.

  12. It all looks beautiful Pam.. Love your dishes and the flowers are so pretty...
It is hard to believe that Fall came so quickly, eh?
    God bless my friend..

  13. Lovely autumn decor Pamela. Deciduous trees are not the only source of beauty at this time of year, hydrangeas are also exquisite.

  14. Beautiful decorating touches. I spotted the turkey plate before you mentioned it! I'm looking for them, but haven't yet found any. They're great for fall!

  15. You are so right, turquoise looks fabulous with rust and yellow, it looks nice on your hutch and the jar is beautiful with cut hydrangeas in it. There is a house that I see on my daily walk that has several bushes of lime coloured hydrangeas and I'm so tempted to go knock on her door and ask if I can cut just a couple of them. Would you ever do that? If I see her outside one day, I just might. I've seen a gentleman outside several times, not her though.
Your house looks very fall-ish now.
    Hugs, Cindy

  16. I love all of the colors. I have a link party on Wednesdays, and I would love it if you would link this and any other posts. It is called Wednesdays Adorned From Above Link Party. It runs from Wednesday to Sundays.
I hope to see you there. I am your newest follower, and I would love for your to follow me also. Have a great Day.
