autumn table for Thanksgiving

It's just about Thanksgiving here in Canada.

In fact, the holiday is on Monday.
We will have dinner on Saturday this year.

I chose my flow blue china again.  It's one of my favourites
for fall.

Some simple fall decor.

There is an old platter and ironstone pitcher which holds
my favourite faux sunflowers.

Vintage cutlery, linen napkins and salt and pepper set round
out the tableware.

I chose this yellow apple for it's colour.  It is a Ginger Gold.
Have you ever had one?
I hadn't until this year and I can tell you that they are delicious!
They are similar to a Golden Delicious but sweeter and softer.
It's my new favourite.
And sadly, they are all gone from the orchard.

I love these colours don't you?

I placed an old quilt upside down on the table then layered
my newer runner on top.  Hand stitching vs. machine.

I like that we celebrate Thanksgiving early here in Canada
as we have all the beautiful colours of fall to decorate with.
It's also not so rushed having it just before December
and the very busy Christmas season.  We have almost
two months to relax before the big rush of Christmas.

I would like to wish all my Canadian friends a wonderfully
blessed Thanksgiving holiday.

I am linking with Tablescape Thursday
at Between Naps on the Porch.

If you've never visited Susan's weekly party you should pop
on over and see her beautiful table scapes on her porch.
She does an amazing job.

  1. It all looks so lovely. I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving weekend.

  2. A Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, my friend. I love that our Thanksgiving holiday is so much earlier than the US's, for all of the same reasons that you mentioned. Your table looks beautiful, I really love those colours together and your quilts look wonderful.
    Love and hugs, Cindy

  3. I love your flow blue. Be careful....they are getting mighty pricey.....but I use some of mine, too. Everything looks so nice, Pamela. You do things in such a lovely way.

  4. Your table looks wonderful, Pamela! I love those little acorns. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving too, my friend.

  5. Hi Pamela, your table looks wonderful, love all the colors you have put together, so pretty. We are having our Thanksgiving supper on Sunday this year, relax the Monday. Happy Gobble Gobble, Blessings Francine.

  6. Hi Pam.. It all looks so lovely but please do me a favor and don't show those Flow Blue dishes.. I have to pray against coveting.. grin..
I would like to try that apple.. Looks good..
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours..

  7. Oh I agree with you. Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving at just the right time. ☺ And I remember with fondness how we used to go to camp for the holiday and then celebrate again in November. It's great to have one foot in each country.

And your table runner is so pretty...lovely colors...did you make it? I think I could figure out the pattern if I looked at it closely. You can't imagine how often I wish now that I am doing some of these things that I had paid attention in Geometry class.

Your table will be beautiful. Now you must tell us what you're planning to serve.

  8. Oh Pamerla, what a gorgeous table and the photography it's stunning! The dishes are beautiful and the cute little acorns next to the pretty white pitcher. Lovely and have a great Thanksgiving in Canada soon and yeah, it's just perfect in Oct. Thank you for your sweet visit too.

  9. Happy Blessed Thanksgiving . . . I loved your idea of the quilt and the runner . . . (I dream up ideas like that too . . .)

  10. Happy Thanksgiving. You set a beautiful table. I especially like your china. :)

  11. Hi Pamela
Your table is set quite simply and nice for Thanksgiving. I like to use things I find outside at times to decorate too. We are lucky to have our celebration earlier than in the US with recovery time before the next big event.
We're having our dinner on Sunday, #2 daughter has just finished a police course in Ottawa that she was away 9 weeks for. Poor girl is a little stressed from the intensity of it and missing her hubby and kids.
    Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

  12. Hi Pamela!! How have you been? I so missed everyone while I've been away! Your table is lovely and I really like the idea of using a quilt for your tablecloth. Your little quilted runner is just perfect too. I want to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving! Thank you so much for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)

  13. looks like a lovely table. i wish you a well time with lots of great food & family sharing moments. i just love those. big hugs. (:

  14. Pamela
Your Thanksgiving table is lovely. I do love your flo blue dishes.
What a neat idea to flip a quilt for a table topper and then add a runner.
I have to admit I still can't get used to an early Thanksgiving, even after living in Canada for 11 years! Old habit die hard! We do still celebrate both.

  15. My goodness...that time already! I love your table setting! So fall and festive! I have never had that type of apple. We just came home today with organic Galas from a local orchard. I love fall with all the apples. Your posts have been so fun seeing diferent varieties we don't grow around here.

  16. Looks very inviting, Pamela...
May you and your family have lovely time..
    Happy Thanksgiving..

    Linda :o)

  17. Pamela I enjoyed your cabinet post. What a marvelous old piece! And your table looks so lovely. I L O V E that china (I have one piece only) and love that you use it---and the upside down quilt is a great idea. It just adds to the ambience of your table. Hope you have a good Thanksgiving!
