autumn table for Thanksgiving

It's just about Thanksgiving here in Canada.

In fact, the holiday is on Monday.
We will have dinner on Saturday this year.

I chose my flow blue china again.  It's one of my favourites
for fall.

Some simple fall decor.

There is an old platter and ironstone pitcher which holds
my favourite faux sunflowers.

Vintage cutlery, linen napkins and salt and pepper set round
out the tableware.

I chose this yellow apple for it's colour.  It is a Ginger Gold.
Have you ever had one?
I hadn't until this year and I can tell you that they are delicious!
They are similar to a Golden Delicious but sweeter and softer.
It's my new favourite.
And sadly, they are all gone from the orchard.

I love these colours don't you?

I placed an old quilt upside down on the table then layered
my newer runner on top.  Hand stitching vs. machine.

I like that we celebrate Thanksgiving early here in Canada
as we have all the beautiful colours of fall to decorate with.
It's also not so rushed having it just before December
and the very busy Christmas season.  We have almost
two months to relax before the big rush of Christmas.

I would like to wish all my Canadian friends a wonderfully
blessed Thanksgiving holiday.

I am linking with Tablescape Thursday
at Between Naps on the Porch.

If you've never visited Susan's weekly party you should pop
on over and see her beautiful table scapes on her porch.
She does an amazing job.

Blessings,

Pamela

  2. A Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, my friend. I love that our Thanksgiving holiday is so much earlier than the US's, for all of the same reasons that you mentioned. Your table looks beautiful, I really love those colours together and your quilts look wonderful.
    Love and hugs, Cindy

  7. Oh I agree with you. Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving at just the right time. ☺ And I remember with fondness how we used to go to camp for the holiday and then celebrate again in November. It's great to have one foot in each country.

And your table runner is so pretty...lovely colors...did you make it? I think I could figure out the pattern if I looked at it closely. You can't imagine how often I wish now that I am doing some of these things that I had paid attention in Geometry class.

Your table will be beautiful. Now you must tell us what you're planning to serve.

  11. Hi Pamela
Your table is set quite simply and nice for Thanksgiving. I like to use things I find outside at times to decorate too. We are lucky to have our celebration earlier than in the US with recovery time before the next big event.
We're having our dinner on Sunday, #2 daughter has just finished a police course in Ottawa that she was away 9 weeks for. Poor girl is a little stressed from the intensity of it and missing her hubby and kids.
    Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Your Thanksgiving table is lovely. I do love your flo blue dishes.
What a neat idea to flip a quilt for a table topper and then add a runner.
I have to admit I still can't get used to an early Thanksgiving, even after living in Canada for 11 years! Old habit die hard! We do still celebrate both.

  15. My goodness...that time already! I love your table setting! So fall and festive! I have never had that type of apple. We just came home today with organic Galas from a local orchard. I love fall with all the apples. Your posts have been so fun seeing diferent varieties we don't grow around here.
