Friday's Fences ~ Parlee Beach

When we went to Parlee Beach {click here} last week I noticed all the storm fencing along the sand dunes and thought they looked kind of nice for photos for Friday's Fences meme.

This is one of the paths over the dunes to the beach.

The fences are to protect the maram grass and the dunes from human traffic.

The dunes stretch for about a mile down this beach and are often destroyed during storm surges or even hurricanes.

I like the shadows on the sand.

I hope you will come over to see more of Friday's Fences
at "Life According to Jan and Jer".

Thanks so much for visiting and your sweet comments!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,

Pamela

  14. I saw fences like that on PEI once. They were being used to trap sand and restore the dunes. The one I was seeing, I was told was the third fence - vertically. The sand had buried the other two completely. It works!

  16. It struck me that I could be looking at any scene along the Eastern seaboard. Parlee Beach could be Old Cape Cod or Reid State Park...quintessential sand dune scene. It looks just like summer! You captured it so very well.

  17. the fencing and the dunes look as if the could be in the UK but the beach scene no - if it were that nice and blue the beach would be so crowded.

  29. I have such fond memories of this beach. We took our children camping at a camp grounds by the dunes when they were younger. We ate at this lovely restaurant where they serve "award-winning" fried clams. My son was so in love with the clams but completely confused by the woman who "pretended to speak French". We laughed so hard at his inability to accept Acadian French. He refused to speak to her in French as he felt she was struggling to hard. At that point his English was still so-so which left them both struggling. We had such a great week there and the water was so beautifully warm.
    We should go back.
