Sunlit Sunday

It's time for Sunlit Sunday at Karen's blog My Little Home and Garden.  There are only a few more weeks left of this meme until next year.  I took this photo on the last day of February as the sun was shining in the dining room window at 5:40 pm.  I am loving the longer daylight hours now and especially as the time has changed to Daylight Saving Time.  The only downside is that it's darker later in the mornings for a while so I guess I can sleep in longer!

The sun was also shining into the china cupboard.  Since the trees have been cut down last summer we get a lot more sun into the house and I've been enjoying it this winter.

I enjoy having fresh flowers in the house once in a while.

They bring a touch of spring indoors during the cold snap.

This is our daughter's sunny living room window.  I love her blinds and the shadows created by them as they remind me of the blinds in the home I grew up in.  This window gets sun most of the day and it really heats up the living room.

We have had sunshine here everyday since last Monday.  The sky is so blue and the snow is so white.  I am enjoying the warmth of the sun both indoors and out.

I hope you have a lovely Sunlit Sunday and that you will join us at Karen's.

Blessings,

Pamela

  1. I like the lighting and homey subjects in the first photo, Pam. The cloths look handmade (by you?) and I'm wondering if that is a beeswax candle I spy.

It's pretty how the light hits your special china. As for a bouquet, fresh flowers can lift the spirits and I have some tulips here that are fulfilling that purpose.

Like you, I'm going to enjoy the longer evenings!

  5. Hi Pamela,

Your pink and white doilies piled on your pretty cake stand remind me of strawberry swirl ice cream on a sugar cone! Love your cheery flowers; they are the perfect way to add sunshine to a dark or dreary day. Isn't it lovely that your a feature in your daughter's home brought to mind something special from your own childhood space?

    Wishing you a wonderful week!

  10. What a sweet picture of the sun cast on the crocheted potholders and they look so sweet on the little pedestal stand. Pretty flowers too! My alstromeria are still doing good and it will be two weeks tomorrow! We've been noticing the longer days and the sun coming up earlier and earlier. This daylight savings time will throw me for a bit but I find it the easiest to get used to.

  13. Ahhh...your post reminded me why we loved visiting NB! That extra hour of evening daylight. With DST, it was dark at 6:45 tonight, but I can tell that your daylight stretched out even longer than that if it was 5:40 on Feb. 28. You sure did a wonderful job of capturing the light. Beautiful pictures!

  15. Those are wonderful images! The sunshine really helps improve my mood. :-) I think that S.A.D. is pretty common in the Far North. Today it was sunny and even slightly warmish. It felt wonderful. I love the sunshine on the bananas and hot pads in that first photo especially.
