springing into Easter decor

A box of old cream bottles and faux blooms in the dining room window.

The time has changed back to Day Light Saving Time, spring arrives in 6 days and Easter is coming at the end of March.   I have decorated our living spaces to welcome the new season even though it doesn't feel like spring here yet.  We do need some spring cheer as the weather has been quite dull and cold lately so I choose to add spring colours and a few faux blooms along with the real ones to brighten our home.

A closer view of the china cabinet.  I added some bunnies and the sweet Easter tin sign that my sister sent me a couple of years ago.

The living room.  I have had the aqua satin glass bowl for years (it was my mother's) and dug it out as it matches the aqua in my new cushions (which I found at Home Sense).  I love the combination of aqua/turquoise, corals and lime/spring green - lovely spring and summer shades.

The new lampshade is from Walmart.  I've had the quilted throw (from Winners) for a few years and I'm amazed at how it co-ordinates with the cushions.  The script cushion is also from Winners and the apple cushion is from a sweet store in St. Andrews called Tweedside Home Decor.

A spring vignette on the old oak commode.  My daughter gave me the birdhouse many years ago and love the old tin roof on it.

This week's tulips.  Such a bright pop of colour.

I am looking forward to getting out in the yard and gardens aren't you?  It will be a while yet but yard clean up can begin now as there is no snow.

Have you started your spring clean up yet?  I guess if one can't there is always spring house cleaning to be done.  That is a never ending task!

Have a lovely day everyone.  Thank you for visiting and also I'd like to say a big Welcome to my new followers.  Thanks for tagging along!

Blessings,
Pam

  3. I like your new header and your pictures are so pretty of your spring and Easter decor. The lighting is perfect. I love your aqua pops of color. Spring is in full bloom here, probably sped up by the very warm weather. 80 here today with lots of sunshine. I guess I need to dig out some summer clothes soon.

  9. Hi Pamela! What sweet Easter and spring decor you have! I just loved seeing the aqua glass satin bowl that belonged to your Mother. I have one exactly like this only in pink which belonged to my grandmother. Beautiful inspiration today!

  10. Looks like you're ready for spring! It's that time of year when you're not quite sure how much to wear for the weather... I found myself thinking today I should have taken the scarf along.

  11. I love your Easter and Spring decorating touches, Pam! I used to have an open hutch like yours when we lived in NY, and I miss it! We did not move all our furniture west, and I bought the dining room set from the woman we bought our house from. It is larger and holds a lot and has closed glass doors, but not as much fun to decorate for the seasons. We have no snow and it has been very dry--scary as it means the fire danger is high. I am actually hoping for snow for all the moisture it will bring.

  15. Everything is very lovely, Pam! I just love your beautiful hutch all dressed up for spring. The bottles in the window are lovely, too. So many pretty spring touches in your beautiful home. My eye immediately caught the lovely green glass candlestick with the birdy on top :) This time of year seems to tease us with the promise of spring, only to have Old Man Winter show up on our doorstep to knock on the door. At least it looks very bright and happy inside! Hugs xo Karen

As I look at your pictures I feel warmth and comfort . . .
I went to a floral shop today that I had never visited . . .
Pussy willows, forsythia and tulips came home with me . . .
and an adorable bunny made from vines . . .
    I can't wait until I can create tomorrow . . .
Spring clean up has had some beginnings here so I will
be mixing some more of that in with my creating tomorrow . . .
    Full days indeed . . . enjoy these new beginnings . . .

  18. No matter what it's doing outside, it's clear that spring has arrived at your house. The aqua touches are beautiful.
We have been tidying the yard, pruning and making big piles of brush to be picked up by the city later this week. So satisfying!

  20. Everything is so lovely. Love the header too. I've been so far behind in reading blogs since I was sick with that ugly cold for three weeks. I'm back up and running now - so watch out. The new spring colors are wonderful in your house - the bunnies are so sweet - I just love bunnies. Happy almost spring. We are having rain and a peek or two of sunshine now and then - but at least it isn't snowing or cold. I've begun my spring house cleaning - got delayed and now have to get back to it.

  21. Good Morning, Pam

It's been too long since I've popped over to visit you. I love all the springtime and Easter touches you're adding to your home. I was in HomeSense just the other day. I've often had luck finding really pretty cushions, but not this time. The one you found is really lovely and I think the new lampshade is gorgeous! I think I'd be very comfortable in your living room.

I hope all is well with you.

  23. Lots of pretty spring colours in your home, if not in the garden. But those will come. I'm on spring break here and would like to get out into the yard, but the rain has to stop first.

  26. Everything looks fresh and beautiful in your home Pam! I haven't started anything outdoors yet. Seems our snow just left last week, but it's actually been two weeks since our last snow storm. I see the snowdrops have burst forth out in the back. Tomorrow I will get out to have a close-up look. Enjoy the rest of your week, and I hope some lasting warmth comes along with it.

  27. Oooh, you have certainly "springed" up your home! I just love your cream jars filled with faux flowers, I think I need some of those, since it will be a while before we see any blooms like that here! And your tulips are lovely too :) I love the new decor to your living room, such pretty pillows and lampshade! The weather has been temperamental here, but lovely and we are feeling much better. Enjoy the springy touches to your home, they really are beautiful! :)

  31. This Easter décor looks amazing. My son is also asking us to host a small Easter party on his birthday. I can’t host the party at home and looking for suitable party venues as I don’t think would need a planner to make arrangements.

  32. Regarding your comment- no, this storm was about a month ago. Things don't look like that today in Ottawa!
